I love looking back at the end of the year to see the highlights. It was a rough year personally, so I posted less often than usual. But I was happy to see as I was scrolling back through old posts, that I was able to still accomplish some great projects. Here are the top projects (according to stats, comments, and social media response) of 2022!
#1 Wood Teardrop Trailer
My son chose to build a trailer for his woodshop project his senior year. I was so impressed with his dedication and his skill level. It is no wonder that it was the top project I shared this year. You can see the full process in the original post HERE.
#2 Backyard Arbor
I was happy this made the list since it is my personal favorite. Every year we try to do at least one big outdoor project on the quest to the backyard of our dreams. This year we added a giant garden arbor to the back of the yard. When the trees on either size get larger, and vines grow up the arch, we will have added privacy to our yard.
#3 Vegetable Storage Cabinet
I wasn't sure how this project would be received since it was kind of super specific and maybe not everyone stores their root type veggies in the same way (or at all). I have seen vegetable storage racks in gardening magazines and catalogs but they were very expensive. This super cheap Facebook marketplace find was easily transformed into veggie storage that fit my needs!
#4 Dining Table Makeover
After living with my lighter wood tabletop and bench for years, I decided I didn't love how it matched the flooring. It seemed to washed out without any contrast. I decided to sand it down to the bare wood and restain it a darker color like the dutch door. I LOVE the results!
#5 Starting Seeds Indoors
I love starting seeds indoors to save money and get a head start on the growing season. I walked you through the process with all my tips and tricks.
#6 Armoire Makeover
Who doesn't love a furniture makeover? I bought an armoire on Facebook marketplace and when Shane brought it home, I soon realized it was going to be a much bigger project than I originally thought. The previous owner had repainted it but didn't prep it properly. See how I fixed it!
#7 Growing Cut Flowers
After years of wanting to grow a cut flower garden, I finally just went for it. I loved having flowers growing in with all the vegetables. It made the whole yard so cheery! I wrote a post all about everything I learned.
#8 Snow Globe Ornaments
I had so much fun sharing the 12 Days of Ornaments. One of my favorites to make were these snow globes! There were several different kinds. Which was your favorite?
#9 Driveway Fence
Adding a fence (and pet run) to the driveway area was such a good touch for the front of our property.
#10 Visiting Mesa Verde
I was pleasantly surprised at how well this post was received. Sometimes I hesitate to post about places we have visited because I don't want anyone to feel like I'm saying "Look how cool we are!" It really is just because I loved the area and feel like others should know about it. A lot of you had not heard about Mesa Verde National Park and some of you emailed and messaged saying you added it to your list of future vacations. One reader has already gone!
I am looking forward to 2023 and all the projects that I have planned. I am hopeful that it will be a better year and that I am able to blog more often.
If you have anything in particular you would like to see here on the blog, let me know in the comments below!

Why not a good year personally? You are such a good writer, perhaps sharing will help?

Nothing big and dramatic. Just lots of little things. We’ve lived in our home 15+ years and everything started dying and falling apart. All our money went to that instead of projects. Our van died too. My mom’s health wasn’t great. And my kids have struggled a bit living in this broken world. The things teenagers have to face is appalling. It just felt like there was more stress and losses than wins. But counting my blessings and looking back on the wins, helps me realize that even hard years are full of good. And progress. I hoping for a very boring 2023 ;)
