There were a few things that my mom made every year around Christmas time. One was her famous caramels, one was a hot citrus drink, and one was this cheese ball. I can’t let December pass without making this at least a few times. I usually make a couple at a time because they get eaten so fast!
It is simple to make and is something you can make ahead of time if you need to take a treat to a party or get together.
- 16 OZ Cream Cheese (at room temperature)
- 1 Can (20 OZ) Crushed Pineapple
- 1 Tablespoon of Chopped Green Onions
- A Pinch of Garlic Salt
- 2 cups chopped Walnuts
- Mix the cream cheese, pineapple, onions, garlic salt, and HALF of the walnuts together in a bowl. Put it in the fridge until firm. Form it into a ball and then roll it in the other half of the walnuts. Refrigerate again until ready to serve.
I decided to make a simple serving tray for the cheese ball. I took this rectangular platter and used epoxy to attach these cabinet pulls. The hardware was left over from our kitchen cabinets. You can turn any platter into a tray this way. So easy!
Our favorite crackers to eat the cheese ball with are Chicken In A Biscuit, Sociables, Ritz, and Vegetable Thins.
