    NYC or Bust

    By Stacy 17 Comments

Last year I told you all about how I was TERRIFIED at the thought of riding in a cab in NYC by myself. I wrote a whole post about being brave when stepping outside of your comfort zone. Well, I survived! And it wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined. And guess what? I get to do it all over again this year because I am going back.

This year I have a whole new reason to be nervous and a new thing that requires me to step outside of my comfort zone. This year I will be heading out early and spending a couple of days filming a makeover challenge!

It will done  Project Runway style!  If you aren't familiar with Project Runway, I will explain....

The BHG StyleMaker Event is held on Thursday and I think they said there will be 50 bloggers attending. Last year I flew in on Wednesday, attended the event on Thursday, and flew home Friday. But this year I fly in Monday and will stay clear till Friday. THIS coming Monday! Eeeek!

Along with 2 other bloggers, I will head to the BHG offices on Tuesday to start the challenge. There will be a video production crew there to film us finding out all the details of the challenge. We will have a Tim Gunn type host (which will be the fabulous Eddie Ross) to check in with us during the 2 day challenge. We will be given a budget and head off the Michaels to buy what we need. We have 40 minutes to shop and then head back to the work room to start! We will all start out with the same white walled room/area to work. I will go to hair and makeup, there will be filmed interviews, and when we are all done there will be a winner picked by the public via their website.

It all sounds very exciting, but what if I choke? What if I can't come up with good ideas? What if I get voted off the island? The ladies I am up against are hardcore designers. So even though I have been in front of the camera before, this is still way outside of my comfort zone.

While I am there I have also been given another challenge by 3M DIY. I have been challenged to find something in NYC that can serve as the inspiration for my next project. I will find something while exploring the city, take a picture, and then come home and make something fabulous. So follow along on instagram for both behind the scenes pictures of the makeover challenge and also for pictures of NYC. See if you can guess what I will make based off the photos I share of the city!
