    What I'm Crushing On {Black & White}

    By Stacy 5 Comments

Last year I started a few fun series and by the end of the year they kind of petered out. I am going to try and resurrect them  starting with this crush...

    what i'm crushing on

    Black & White

Remember on Trading Spaces how Edward always said that every room needed black? At the time I was like "Dude, I like black but really? Every room?" Now I think Edward and I could be besties because I do think that it is a great grounding color for a space. Okay, so maybe not EVERY room NEEDS it, but I have added it more and more lately to my own home. I even have a Pinterest board devoted to it black and white!

Follow Stacy's board Black on Pinterest.
I think black and white is great all by themselves, it's fun with pops of bright colors, and with metallics but my favorite way is when they are mixed with warm wood tones and lots of greenery!

Add black and white to unexpected places like this checkered ceiling!

Stripes have always had my heart. Black and white stripes are just FUN! And what a statement!

I am debating back and forth between painting my base cabinets black or navy blue. I love the look! This black and white kitchen is fabulous!

Raise your hand if the barn house on Fixer Upper was your favorite! I fell in love with the tile in the kitchen, the black doors, and that kitchen island is freakin' amazing!

If there were a way to transport this bathroom directly to my house I would do it. That vanity helps make less stark. I would add a Turkish rug and more plants :)

I have a major thing for gallery walls. This one is probably my favorite of all time!

Here is another shot of the barn Chip and Joanna turned into a home. The whole house is mainly black and white and this area was my very favorite!!!

I'll give you a 10 Shrute bucks and throw in a few Stanley nickles if you can remember where this space is from. Remember when I wrote posts about the American Dream Builders TV show hosted by Nate Berkus? This was from the winning house. This space made me want to paint my trim black :)

So what do you think? Have you found yourself adding in more black and white? If so, do you add it in with accessories or really go for it with larger things like furniture and walls?

I'm in love with black and white, especially in the kitchens and bathrooms, actually in any room.
I think it looks so crisp, fresh and clean and bright.
I do think it can be overdone, but the homes you featured on this post are so well done.
I have always wanted a barn home, and I live out in the country and I see barns all the time and imagine how they would look converted into a home and I always picture the kitchen that Chip and Joe did in this post I just love it. Dream on! I will just have to do my house in black and white little be little.

I have always wanted to convert either a barn or an old church into a house. I think it would be so fun!
