You may remember seeing peeks here and there of the pattern I painted around my chalkboard last fall. It was inspired by vintage kilim rugs. I painted it as part of a campaign for Behr paint and I am finally able to share the tutorial with you!
I am not sure if I am alone, but I feel myself torn between two worlds. A part of me longs to be surrounded by color. Lots and lots of color! And parts of me craves the calming feeling that comes from neutrals. Sometimes I feel like it is my biggest decorating challenge.
I kind of feel like my chalkboard is a Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde in then sense that it has two personalities. Underneath it has fun color and pattern and sometimes on the top it has a warm, grey barn wood frame. The wood is only attached by a few screws and can easily come off to reveal the fun color. It is like two in one!
If you head over to the Behr website you can see the full tutorial as part of their designer series. If you are your mobile device and the link doesn't take you directly to my page, you can click on “Go To Full Site”, then manually click "Inspiration" then "Designer Stories".
There are several other bloggers who created beautiful projects and you should check them out as well :)
I was provided product by BEHR and compensated to create and write about this project but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own!

Stacy, you rock! I love the colorful chalkboard AND the wood frame option. Sweet! The Behr website tutorial is wonderful also, thanks! I, too, am a color junkie. :)
hey girl this is so cool!
Hmmmm, not sure if im on board with this kilim fad. I love the colors though!
I love kilim rugs, and love this idea. Great choice for design inspiration. It really pops on the white wall and ties in with the blue door. Fun, inexpensive way to make a big design statement, especially if you use extra paint from other projects. Or, you could buy paint colors that please you, and find other projects to paint that would then have a color connection with the "rug."
