Hyacinth Bowl {Styled X3}

By Stacy 7 Comments

I feel like a broken record because very month I go to type the first paragraph of the Styled X 3 post and I want to say the say thing. I LOVE this series! I really do look forward to it. Every single time the other bloggers blow me away with the fun ways they use the item I send, in their home.

Like every month, I sent two other bloggers the same item and kept one for myself. All three of us style it somewhere in our homes. Altering the item is optional but not necessary. This month we have the talented and very cheeky Kim from The Kim Six Fix and the bright and cheery Claire from A Little CLAIREification.

I picked a small hyacinth bowl….

If you follow me on Instagram then you know I played around with indigo dye this past week. I was maybe going a little crazy and dyeing everything in sight. I may have also thrown in this basket. It came out looking black and kind of splotchy. No worries though. I had a back up plan if the dye didn’t work…..PAINT!

Almost every item I pick I have the urge to turn into a planter. Most of the time I can restrain myself and think of something else to use it for. But this month, I just needed to add some “spring” to my house and decided to plant a,……well, a hyacinth! Sadly my mom brain didn’t even make the connection until after I had bought it at the store and brought it home so I can’t say it was planned.

My tiny dining table can’t handle much in the way of a centerpiece. This small basket was the perfect size! When I am ready to plant this in my garden, I think I will add some small succulents.

I grabbed some of my seedlings growing in small pots and clustered them around the bowl/planter.

Let’s pretend I wasn’t scrambling to head out of town for a conference and that I wanted to invite some girl pals over for lunch. I could add some cute seed packets to the place settings as a thank you for coming over. Spring flowers, seedlings and seed packets…. you don’t get more springy than that :)

I even cut some white flowers from my secret garden and stuck them in my favorite (faceted) vase!

How do you add spring touches to your home?

Don’t forget to stop by Kim’s blog and Claire’s blog to see what they came up with!

    I wouldn’t have thought to paint a basket blue, but it really works in your dining room. Love the whole blue/white scheme. Adorable.
