It has been crickets around here lately. I haven't posted in a week and a half. I wasn't really planning on taking a break, but when my kids have their last week of school and things got nuts with concerts, class parties, preschool graduation, etc. I just didn't have a ton of time or energy left over.
And when they got out of school for the year all I wanted to do was play with them and eat snow cones :)
But I haven't been completely lazy. I got my family room painted bright white and added some shelves. I am in the process of putting it all back together. So that means a room reveal is coming up!
Be prepared for some mediocre iphone pics....
Utah decided to have an identity crisis. It broke the record for the most consecutive days with rain. And we are not talking sprinkling either. Now while this made the grass and the mountains lush and green, it made my garden a muddy mess. I decided to wait until the rain stopped to plant my garden which means it didn't get planted until May 30th. Fingers crossed it doesn't affect it too much.
Last year I didn't plant a garden. I didn't do much yard work at all really. I was preparing for, and then actually writing my book. I knew something had to give and after a lot of thought, I decided my garden and yard were going to have to be it. It meant that my secret garden went a little wild. I have been weeding and clearing it out. I'll have a post up soon with how it looks two years after I first posted about it!
Right now my peonies are blooming.
If you have ever wondered what 35 crates look like, this is it. I'll share what they are for later. I have them all sanded and stained, which believe it or not, took FOREVER to do!
Even though it has been quiet here on the blog for a bit, I have been busy and I am on the verge of being able to share some AMAZING things!

Anymore progress on the bathroom and kitchen remodel you started?
I'm dying to see what all those crates are going to be used for!
Aren't peonies so romantic? When I was young, I thought they were too "old-fashioned." I still think they're old-fashioned but in the most lovely, charming way.
I can't wait to see your room reveal and crate project!
Where'd you buy all your crates? I need to get 8-10 but haven't been able to find them reasonably priced. :)
Stacy - we are in the same row boat here in Colorado. We had the most rain EVER in a month and the most in May. Pikes Peak still has 10 feet of snow on it and the cog can get to the top now but the house/shop/restaurant on the top is still snowed in. We even has ski resorts still open we've had so much snow and rain. My garden also suffered and I am afraid all the seedlings I planted have died without any sun for a month. But the sun is finally out and it has been nice and warm (for Colorado - 78 and today maybe 80!). My peonies aren't blooming yet but they do have a lot of buds and I can't wait they are one of my favorite flowers. I can't wait to see what you do with the crates! Have a good one and stay dry!
