    2011 in review....

    By Stacy 22 Comments

It was fun going back through all my projects I have done this year. I realized 3 things about myself. I love plants/flowers, I love color, and I love re-purposing things! That seem to be the theme through out my house and my projects. Here are a few of my favorites in no particular order. . . . . . . . .

My bedroom. I finished it in January this year. It landed me in the pages of Better Homes and Gardens :) It is where I go when I need to de-stress, put myself in time out, or rest. It is so peaceful. And it always smells like clean laundry...........since it has a giant pile at the end of the bed :P

I did a whole bunch of outdoor projects for a TV appearance this summer. This one, the old door privacy screen, was probably my favorite :)

This ladder turned plant stand was part of the outdoor projects as well. It will be featured in an upcoming issue of Readers Digest.

Wood block picture collage: I put photos onto blocks of wood that were all different thicknesses to create this 3D picture collage. Very inexpensive!

I made some terrariums using apothecary jars!

I redid my kitchen and dining room this spring. I spray painted my cabinets, replaced appliances, got new wood floors, and painted the ceiling with a checkerboard pattern!

I redecorated my bathroom and gave it a vintage feel. I love it all but I think the mirror I cut out and the door knobs as towel hooks are my favorite :)

My office is the most recent big project I have done. I am particularly attached to this room since I built and made almost everything in it :)

This little project became a Pinterest star! By far it was pinned more than any other project of mine this year. The only problem was that it was pinned as an herb garden and I did not plant herbs. These are houseplants I picked specifically for the moisture and light levels they would get in here. But since they were so popular and since everyone wants to make them as an herb garden I am going to do an experiment and try growing herbs from seeds and do a follow up post. My Mason Jar Wall Planter was also featured in a couple of magazines.

This is a corbel that I made. I have a tutorial on how. You might be surprised how easy it was!

I used one of my favorite power tools, the jigsaw, to make this funky frame. I didn't even know what Organic Bloom was until people started commented that it was a DIY version. Whatever you call it, it was a fun project that inspired me to make my bathroom mirror and the mirror in my office.

I am linking up to Rhoda's "best of 2011" linky :)

I found your blog from the Better Home and Garden magazine article and I have to admit that when I check in on the blogs I follow, yours is usually first! My favorite things that you did this year is the door knobs in the bathroom and the AH-MAZING floating shelves in the office... Thanks for great ideas!!!

Holy crap, woman! You have been so very, very busy! I am in awe of your talent and mad skillz with power tools. To heck with being a spokeswoman for Home Depot...I'm moving to a bigger dream: you with your own DIY show! (I'm still going to apply for a job working as your PR rep or social media consultant or something...)

I see you just topped 4000 followers--good for you! Wish I could "poof" you down to Texas to help me paint my antique china hutch...I'm nervous about touching it! Ever try ASCP?

I didn't realize you had used doorknobs as hooks in project, although I shouldn't be surprised:) I'm wanting to do the same thing for hanging my bathrobe, or maybe a couple handbags by the front door. Nice to see it in action!

I LOVE all your projects, ideas and how-to's :) LOVE them! One thing I'm wondering about is your floors? I'm in the process of refinishing our floors @ home and I'm just having the hardest time trying to get our red oak floors to be dark and chocolate and rich... Like yours I see in all your project pictures. Can you please help me? If not, I understand. I'm soo stressed trying to get the look I want :( we have hired a flooring company to stain it for us and we just can't get what I have on mind on my floor. Anyways, if you can help me in any way I would totally and completely appreciate it! Thank You
