It is always fun for me to do a room transformation for someone else especially when that someone is so deserving. Remember the time I did the kitchen makeover for my sister? She had gone through some hard times and found herself a single mother who rented out her upstairs to make ends meet. She and her 5 kids moved into the basement, which luckily had a small kitchen. The kitchen was baby blue and needed some help. I love surprising her with that makeover!
Fast forward a few years and my sister just got remarried and moved into a new house! When Angie's List contacted me about creating a luxury walk-in closet, I knew she was the perfect person to get this new space.
Their closet was your run of the mill, basic builder grade closet with particle board shelving.

After about a week of demo and installation, we finally had a dream closet!

I managed to create a "His" and a "Her" side that fit their very different needs.

I tore out the old particle board shelving and the carpet. Once the staples and tack strips were out, I patched the holes on the wall from removing the shelving.

I repainted the walls with a fresh coat of white. Once it was dry, I was able to instal the new beautiful hardwood floors.

The new closet inserts were easy to to assemble. Once they were in place, I added the hanging bars.

Then came the really fun part.....decorating!
I had a lot of fun shopping for the perfect light fixture, ottoman, and accessories.

So I am curious, what elements would go in your dream closet?
I was compensated for time and materials by Angie's List for this project but all design ideas and opinions are 100% my own :)

Would definetly have a soft regular heigth chair in there, to put socks or nylons/tights on. And lots of room for shoes. Our closet just seems to always we a dump. Probably anything would help! Ha.
Hmm? I would need more hanging space for all my hand sewn items that get squished with the limited space I have to use! Mostly dresses and shirts that need TLC all their lives! Store bought items can be stored differently, I would think. YES, more, or better designed hanging space! PLEASE!
WOW! That chandelier is gorgeous! I wish I had a walk-in closet. Mine is a tiny one with those ugly sliding doors.
Beautiful job!
Holy wow! What a difference!! I'm going to need a closet makeover in my new house. You should come over lol.
I love a well designed closet! I really need to work on mine :). This looks wonderful!
Great article and pictures over on Angie's List! (Love that silver mirror you put together too!)
Where did you get the shelf/drawer units. Looking to upgrade my closet, but having trouble finding a set I like. Thanks!
They are from hayneedle.com and are part of the Pur by Bestar collection. They are very sturdy :)
