    Valentine's Day Decor {Blog Hop}

    By Stacy 15 Comments

    There's nothing like a deadline to push you to get things done. One of the reasons I like to have company come is it motivates me to deep clean. Ever since I took the Christmas decor down my front room has felt naked and sad. I still had random pinecones under furniture and little pieces of the Christmas tree stuck to the bottoms of curtains and dust bunnies in the corners. It wasn't company that motivated me this time, it was a home tour!

    I am joining 5 other bloggers to share a room in our house that we decorated for Valentine's Day!

    The other bloggers who are joining me today are Shonee from Hawthorne & Main, Wendy from The Shabby Nest, Tauni from SNAP!, Ursula from Homemade By Carmona, and Linda from Craftaholics Anonymous.

    I love Valentine's Day! For me it is not about the cheap store bought cards or the dozen red roses your man is suppose to buy you. I love it because it is a day that celebrates love. I enjoy taking a day to think about all the reason I love my people and to do special things for them. Of course I do this year round too, but it is fun to have a day where it is expected.

    I normally only decorate my mantel and sometimes I don't even do that. Maybe it was the sad state of my front room post Christmas, but I decided to decorate my whole family room this year.

    It has been a C.R.A.Z.Y. winter and I haven't even bought one single bunch of flowers from the store. Normally I buy a bunch every week.  I made up for it by ordering some flowers from our local florist.

    After packing away all the Christmas stuff (all 10 totes worth), I decided to keep it simple.

    Really all I did was add a new piece of art to the gallery wall, added a few new pillows, add in some pink books, and put fresh flowers everywhere.

    The artwork is just a simple watercolor heart. I have a quick video on instagram showing me making it. It is seriously took less than 5 minutes and anyone can do it.

    Aren't ranunculus the prettiest?

    My new favorite throw looks cute on the couch and it is a good thing it does because there is a big 'ole hole on the arm. This poor couch is 13 years old and broken in more places than it has a right to be.  We keep fixin' and patchin' while we save for a new one :)

    I rounded up all the pink books to add to the space. My hair pin stump planter is usually in the dining room but it got brought in here while the Christmas tree was set up in the other room and I haven't moved it back. Maybe I need to make another one because I love how it looks in here too!

    I had this great idea to paint a thin piece of plexiglass with the mirror spray paint that is suppose to turn glass into mirrors. It worked, to a point. It actually looks much better in real life. In the pictures it looks more foggy than it really is. I only did one coat so I may need to add some more paint. Either way, I thought it was another fun idea for covering the TV. I have done artwork and a chalkboard in the past.

    Oh peonies! You have my heart. They really do look good in anything and placed anywhere. This spiky succulent was Shane's pick. I think it was the first time in our marriage he has encouraged my plant addiction.

    So that is it! You really don't have to go all out to have a LOVE inspired space for Valentines! Keep it simple :)

    Here are the pillow covers I bought on Amazon for the space. I like using pillow covers for holidays because they can go over some of my regular pillows and then they don't take up much space when I need to pack them away. These are affiliate links
