    My form of therapy...

    By Stacy 11 Comments

I haven't been painting, staining or building lately because I have been doing THIS!!!!

Gardening is my therapy. There is just something about it that makes me feel good through and through. The fact that you can put a tiny seed in the ground and it will grow a plant with FOOD on it will never cease to amaze me.

I wish I lived on a farm. I wish I had acres and acres and a tractor. But my 1600 square feet of beautiful dirt will have to suffice :) I can't wait to put the fence up on that side of the yard so it will look even better. We only managed to get up the other side last year.

On the very end there are the raspberries. And next to them is my strawberry patch.

Our big wonderful grape vine is along the back. Red seedless. Yum!

Here you can see my artichokes. Oh how I LOVE artichokes!!! I planted these a few years ago and have been winterizing them. They produced over 200 artichokes last year! You can read my post about them from last year HERE.

The small green patch next to them is oregano. It is another perennial.  The very end of the garden is where I had the kids plant their rainbow garden. They are so excited!

I can't wait to plant everything else! I am a little hesitant since we have had SNOW off and on lately. When all is said and done I will have: raspberries, strawberries, grapes, carrots, watermelon, onions, garlic, celery, lettuce, basil, oregano, tomatoes, several types of peppers, cucumbers, beans, peas, corn, potatoes, radishes, butternut squash, summer squash, ......I know I am forgetting something.

In the past I have planted even more things. It is different every year depending on what I want or need.

Are you planting a garden this year???

Wowie. Your 1600 sq.ft. garden is bigger than my house. Haha! I have not gotten into gardening but would like to. Maybe when my kids get older and my yard gets bigger! Yours looks great though. Great job.

I am new to gardening this year. We have done small planter boxes before, but this year we moved to a bigger lot/house. I've been searching for tips for gardening in the Utah area, so I love to see what you have planted. I have marked off a 40 X 80 space just for a garden. I hope I don't kill everything. Wish me luck.

My husband just built me two 4X8 elevated beds. Not nearly as big as the space you have...but it's a garden! Yours is beautiful!

You can get on the Utah extension office's website and find out all sorts of into. I usually google "How to grow_____ in Utah" and it brings up the page from them. There is a lot of good info there. It also is a lot of trial and error to see what works. Good luck!

Gardening? For real? What DON'T you do? I detest gardening. And I stink at it. So much so....that we didn't even have flowers at our home for the first 5 years we lived here. And I am pretty stoked about the fact that I figured out that the Cub Scouts need to plant something for one of their requirements. So guess who's getting her flowers planted for her, this year? Yipee!

I am super jealous of the food though. I would love to have that. I'll just have to settle for my Basil plant. I'm pretty proud of that. :)

      You are fantastic!

I'm so envious. I've wanted this for many years already but after some financial hardship we are in a rental for a couple years. The back yard is all stamped concrete and rock. Not even grass. I long for the time to pass so I can own a home where I can make this dream come true. In the meantime can I come help with yours? LOL

I heart gardening as well. Right now, we just started a flower garden in our backyard. Our yard isn;t that big, but we are going to try to make a planter box with veggies. I cannot wait. Gardening is sooo relaxing. I wish I had your lot size! :)
