    Indoor Winter Gardening

    By Stacy 93 Comments

I am so excited to have partnered with The Scotts Company to share how you can garden this winter with the Miracle-Gro AeroGarden. The experiences and thoughts are all mine!

I touched on it briefly this past spring, but I struggle in the winter. This solar powered girl gets bogged down in the long Utah winter months. I have to confess that I never really tried to do anything about it. I just "dealt" with it. But after suffering through my worst winter ever last year, I am determined to try things that will help me get through this upcoming season.

I had a brainstorming session and wrote down notes in my notebook of things I could try. I have already bought a ton of new houseplants that I plan on surrounding myself with. And then I got an email from AeroGardens. It seemed to stand out among all the emails that day. They were offering me a Miracle Grow AeroGarden to try out. I had heard of them a long time ago but had forgotten about them. If I had thought of it on my own, I would have bought one myself to try as part of my winter therapy. But getting to test one out for a review was even better. I said "yes" right away and then after spending an hour on their site I got SUPER excited!

If you know me at all you know that I adore gardening. I anticipate and plan my spring garden ALL winter long. In fact, planning my garden was on my list I made in my notebook. But this year I didn't plant a garden. It was the first time in 8 years. It was a very hard decision, but I knew that I might be writing a book and that if I did it would fall around the same time as harvesting/canning season. I knew something had to give.

So because I didn't garden at all this year and we are headed into another winter (rumored to be a harsh one) I was extra nervous.

But now I will get to garden INDOORS this winter! I have already planted some herbs!

These pictures were taken a week after I planted them.

I have the AeroGarden 7 and this is what it looks like. It also comes in silver and in white.

    aerogarden 7 review

I really don't want to sound like a commercial but I really want to tell you everything that excites me about this garden system. So I am going for bullet  points :)

    • *Plants grown in the AeroGarden Grow twice as fast as regular plants. You have to see the 10 second stop motion video they have! Amazing.
    • *You can grow almost anything! They offer 50 different seed kits and custom seed kits. I have already ordered a custom FLOWER seed kit. Plus you can buy seed kits where you add your own favorite seeds.

    aerogardens plant your own seeds

    Plant your own seeds!

    • * You can also buy a tray to start seeds for your outside gardens. The seed starting kit can grow 66 seedlings at a time. I am ordering this for sure. No more shelves upon shelves cluttering my office!

    aerogardens seed starter

    • *It is EASY. The say it is so foolproof that they guarantee it will grow.  That is right. They have a 100% guarantee! It tells you when to add more water and when to add more nutrients. The grow light even goes on and off on its own!
    • *No dirt or weeds. Enough said :)
    • *They have multiple sizes so there is one that will fit your needs and budget. The Ultra is next on my list because you can even grow Strawberries!

    aerogardens

I could go on and on. Seriously. I may or may not have cried while looking at their site. The fact that my kids are having a blast checking the growth everyday, the fact that we will get to eat fresh, organic herbs and veggies this winter that we grew, are just extra perks.

I am SUPER excited that I get to giveaway an AeroGarden to one of you! It would make the perfect gift for anyone, not just the gardeners in your life. Here is what is in the prize pack one of you will win:

1 AeroGarden with seed pods, herb infuser, gardening cookbook, berry bowl, & cutting board w/ prep station

Enter using the rafflecopter widget below.

*You must be at least 18 years old to enter. You must be a resident of the USA to enter. A winner will be chosen by random.org and will be notified by email. The winner will have 48 hours to respond before a new winner will be chosen. The shipping of the prize is the responsibility of the company, in this case, The Scotts Company.

What a great way to teach your kids about gardening too! This is an all around top shelf idea and product. I need to get me (read, like to win) one of these! I figure you can't start your outdoor seedlings yet, so something that you could harvest indoors this winter....I like the idea of really fresh herbs. And something that would bloom would be lovely. I, too, suffer in the winter, and "deal with it." Flowers mid-winter would be cheering.
