    Homemade Graham Crackers for S'mores {Giveaway}

    By Stacy 175 Comments

    Jump to recipe

The theme for my Better Homes and Gardens post this month was Holiday Entertainment. Having a small house means that any "entertaining" we do is usually outside. BBQ's, outdoor movies, and roasting marshmallows are the usual. This past weekend we had some of our family over for dinner and s'mores. We will be spending Thanksgiving with the other side of our family this year so this was kind of like an early celebration.

Is there anything better than sitting around a fire with your family?

Several years ago my SIL requested a camping type cake for her my niece and we came up with a giant s'more cake. I came up with a recipe for homemade graham crackers that taste pretty darm close to the real thing. I made the same recipe but this time made regular sizes crackers for our s'mores.

    Ingredients

    • 2 sticks of butter
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • ½ cup dark corn syrup
    • Cream these together and then add 2 tsp baking soda
    • 4 cups flour
    • 4 tablespoons water

    Instructions

    1. Once the dough is all mixed together chill for 30-60 minutes. Roll out like sugar cookie dough and use a rectangle or square cookie cutter. Bake at 375 for 8 minutes. The thinner you roll them the crispier they will be.

    *OPTIONAL*

Right after you take them out and they are still warm you can use a tooth pick or kabob stick to poke holes so they look like the real thing.

Whether you choose to make them soft or crispy, they make great s'mores!

Since it is November the temperatures have dropped here in Utah. We snuggled up in some cozy blankets. I bought these because they looked so soft and also because I have a plan for a new boys bedroom in our basement in these colors. They are from the BHG line at Walmart.

These are the blankets I chose although there are a ton of different colors, patterns, and textures to choose from.

I'm looking forward to seeing my daughters face throughout the whole Christmas season. She's 2.5 years old and this is the first time she's really understanding what is going on. She's really excited about Santa and loves seeing Christmas trees at the store. I can't wait to take her to meet Santa, and really excited for her face on Christmas morning when she sees her play kitchen and her tricycle. She will be in heaven!

I look forward to the time with family. We are so blessed to have my 89 year old grandparents, my mom, my wonderful husband, our children, a new son-in-law, and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. I love spending the holidays together.
