    By Stacy 8 Comments

Here is our latest installment of our "He Said, She Said" series! Instead of posting every Wednesday, I have decided to do every other Wednesday. I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Make sure and post in the comments below :)

What about you? Do you like a little (minimalist) or are you a "more the merrier" kind of person? Or maybe somewhere in between?

I am more in between. I use to be a minimalist. The older I get I collect more things that actually mean something to me. I enjoy seeing those things sitting around.

I'm more on the clean and simple side. I am totally unable to over-embellish a project, and often use hardly any embellishments on something I create.

If it were up to me I'd live with concrete, stainless and leather. Minimalist. Husband likes it more homey. Since we're moving to 10 acres I think I'll do cottage shabby chic. With all the dust and animals, boots and dirt I won't have to worry about knicks, cuts and bruises on flooring and furniture.

I'm more in the middle as well I don't like lots of small knick-knacks/collections that, to me, look like clutter. I do like a few larger accessory pieces that "finish" a room that aren't too difficult to move to dust.

My kitchen counters are mostly clear though, as I really don't like "stuff: on my kitchen counter. Most appliances are kept in our pantry and we take out when we use them. The toaster, knife block, utensil canister, wood cutting board, and decorative cookie jar (from my husband's childhood) are the only things we keep out. One year my husband got a Keurig coffee maker as a gift for Christmas that I freaked out about. It was this HUGE behemoth thing taking up so much visual space on the counter! Luckily I convinced him to return it - he doesn't even drink coffee!

I'm torn - I love pretty things, so I tend to pick up odds and ends. But as I am really defining my style, I tend to be more selective and buy/thrift only things that I really love and can see a spot for in my existing decor :) P.S. You guys are so cute!

Hmm...I think my Mom tastefully decorated with restraint. I didn't have much at twenty but my sisters and I started buying eachother decor for every visit plus holiday plus birthdays and Christmas. In a year I'd possibly get eight gifts from each of my my sisters and it was fun because our towns had such neat local shops with unusual stuff. Then came my injury. I'm looking at old photos and see that I'm hesitant now to remove sentimental pieces. Where there were four pieces on the length of a shelf it now has a row of plates with more in front. It was helpful to see the old photos to help my brain sort and realize that every item must not be shown at all times in the exact way. I have lots of bookcases and a huge open shelved hutch and entry table, side table and sofa table. That's lots of room for stuff!! But I use bigger things yet some sentimental and enjoy arranging and redoing what's out. I think I must be too much stuff(?)!! But we have swiffer dusters today so dusting isn't like it used to be!! Heehee

Wow, I had to really think about this one. I grew up with "organized clutter" my mother would tell me. But I really didn't like it. Years latter I found myself doing the same thing not once, not twice, but three times starting in new places. Now I try very had to keep it so that it is "meaningful" BUT if company stopped by I wouldn't be totally embarrassed. We have big art on the wall space so that is never an issue. It is the shelve that can drive me batty. Which is why every spring I reorganize things,(book, book and more books) some to share, some to donate, some to put in the attic for grandchildren, Your thoughts and perspective on this subject were very helpful! Thanks you two love birds!!!
