    Getting Your Patio Summer Ready!

    By Stacy 53 Comments

School is out and the temps have warmed up! We have been spending more and more time outside so I decided it was high time to clean up the patio and give it a refresh. Here are my tips on getting your patio summer ready.

This post is sponsored by HomeRight. All opinions and ideas are 100% my own.

    Keep scrolling for a giveaway!

    Getting Your Patio Summer Ready

If I were a really good blogger, I would have taken a before photo of the whole space. It was covered in pine needles, leaves, and other debris. There were no cushions on the furniture since they were stored away for the winter, and the flowerbeds needed a little weeding. But I was so excited to start working outside for the first time this year, that I jumped head first into this without a perfect before shot.

    Sweep & Tidy

I weeded, emptied dead plants out of planters, and swept the patio pavers. Not very glamorous or exciting, but it did make a big difference right away. I also use a broom to sweep away and cobwebs on the windows. If you have moss or mildew growing, use a power washer or a hose attachment to wash the patio well.

    Refresh Finishes

The sliding wall's stain has faded over the years and was looking a bit drab. I had grown tired of the green planters and wanted something with more contrast. If you have anything stained or painted, freshening them up gives your patio and instant facelift!

I started with the planters. I cleaned them really well since paint adheres better to a clean, dry surface. I placed a garbage sack over the juniper to protect it from the paint. Using my QuickFinish sprayer, I applied the new color of paint!

I think the blue will look better and show off the green of the foliage. The QuickFinish has such nice, even coverage and it goes on so FAST!

While the first planter was drying and I was waiting to be able to paint the second one, I used my Super FinishMax sprayer to stain the sliding wall feature. I had stuck cardboard pieces behind the slats to protect the fabric and taped up a tarp to protect the brick. After that, it was super fast and easy to spray on the new stain! I love projects that give me instant satisfaction!

While I had the sprayer full of stain, I went ahead and refreshed the cooler cover, the gates, and our front yard fence. I had everything stained in less than half and hour! I am continually impressed with this sprayer.

    Decorate!

Plant some flowers, add your cushions on (complete with outdoor pillows) and you are ready to enjoy your patio!

I just need to grab a drink and a good book :)

The new stain and paint make the patio look like new!

Do you have a place in your yard that you love to spend time in? Or maybe a dreamy balcony?

Our yard is small, no grass, just some landscape shrubs and a patio, In the summer as the landscape shrubs bloom and the yard becomes fuller, it is great to sit on our patio. That is my favorite place to have a cup of coffee:)

This looks so wonderful! It's time to get back outside and bring the color back outside! I love sitting in a glider that my son bought for us. I've added a cushion and pillows that I made and I can gently "swing" and relax...watch the wildlife...and dream about my next project!

I don't have much of a yard, but there is a spot towards the back that I've been working on. I did some limbing up on a yew that had taken over too much of the yard. Where the lower limbs prevented grass from growing, I arranged a bunch of potted plants, perfect spot to give them some sun each day. I put a bench in the yard that had been on the front porch, but no one ever sits there. Now it's in a pleasant place to soak up the sun, listen to the birds and gaze at my little garden. Nothing as grand as your patio though. Love it. I'm thinking I'd like some stained planters like yours to give my little garden a unified look instead of a mishmash of different flower pots.

You did a great job! I LOVE that Sliding Wall planter feature!! Looks brand new now. Did you purchase it or was it DIY? I would love to make one for my home. My favorite place is my butterfly garden but I don't have a pretty place to sit...YET! Working on it and will need to stain my side of the neighbors' fences since those sides look terrible in my yard. This sprayer would make easy work out of that for sure.

My favorite outdoor spot is the front porch of my 1908 home. I have wicker furniture that is surrounded by my perennial flower garden. Unfortunately it currently is what I like to call the 'cicada clubhouse'. I'm looking forward to a few weeks from now when they are gone and I can once again, enjoy my outside space.

My favourite spots would be at our lake lot, sp quiet without all the noise of the city. However when we are home our back yard is my fav....my hubby and sons built me a greenhouse last year for Mothers day and this former garden plant killer has learned to grow veggies. The quick finish sprayer would be a wonderful tool to help with all the updates to my backyard and all the little things we add to our lake lot each year.

My favorite outdoor spots are in my vegetable and flower gardens. It's taken 35 years to "perfect" them (Ha! they are always evolving, never finished) and I want to spend as much time there as possible. Chores such as repainting and refurbishing outdoor furnishings take a lot of time away from planting, weeding, watering and harvesting. That's time I could reclaim with a HomeRight Quick Finish Sprayer!
