    Crushing On: Velvet

    By Stacy 2 Comments

Ahhh, velvet. It is so smooth and soft. It can add texture and richness to a space like nothing else can. I have had a love affair with velvet for a while now and thought it would be fun to show you some of my favorite examples I have seen around the web. I'm sure after browsing through all these gorgeous images, you will see why I am crushing on velvet.

    Headboards

Can you imagine leaning against a plush, velvet headboard as you read in bed? This vibrant green is to die for!

And of course, since navy has my heart, I love this one! It is a DIY project too. Can you believe it?

Gray would go with just about everything so you could change out pillows and bedding and it would always work. This whole space is stunning!

I love the contrasting piping on the edges of this headboard. So pretty!

    Bedding

While I may not choose velvet in the summer time (unless it was a thin), I can't think of a sexier choice for your bedroom. It instantly makes the space look more luxurious!

This green is a bold choice but looks so good with warm wood tones and crisp white.

    Pillows

Pillows are a great way to try out a trend. I have several velvet pillows and they are easier to maintain than I would have thought. Years later they still look new!

    Sofas & Chairs

I LOVE velvet upholstered furniture. The fact that this beauty is navy seals the deal.

Green is so hot right now. I am seeing green velvet couch popping up all over the internet. After seeing this whole room, I can see why!

One day I will have a velvet wing back chair. Maybe I will even choose pink!

    Benches & Ottomans

Don't want to commit to a sofa? Why not a bench or ottoman?

I added one to my sister's closet recently. It makes the space!

I think this might be my favorite space. I love every single detail. The stairs, that RUG!, all the light, and of course the bench.

Well, you certainly got me thinking! I had that pink chair at one point in my life...it was a recuse from a fallen off truck and the people were just going to throw it away because of a few scuffs. I sewed up some arm covers that coordinated and also made a skirt that hid the damage to the legs and presto...a new beautiful chair for moi!
The rich curtains had me thinking of Scarlet O'Hara who made a fashionable dress out of them...because that was all the material left in her world! Hmmm??? ;-)
Great pics and ideas! Thanks so much for sharing!
