    Meet The Blogger {Sawdust 2 Stitches}

    By Stacy Leave a Comment

I have a special treat for you today. I get to introduce you to one of my favorite DIY bloggers. Corey is so fun and makes everyone around her feel comfortable. She also happens to be incredibly creative and she wields power tools like a pro. She is going to share with 5 ways to decorate a wall without picture frames. You are going to love it!

    Meet Corey!

Hey all! I am Corey from Sawdust 2 Stitches and I am delighted to be visiting today. I have known Stacy for a little while now, and let me assure you she is just as amazing as she is talented, and THAT is saying something!
A little about myself, I love to decorate, and DIY, but my favorite thing to do is build. So today I have gathered up a few of my simple builds that are perfect for the DIYer and are a great way to decorate any blank wall!

5 Ways to Decorate a Wall (without picture frames)

    1.) Large Modern Wall Quilt
Are you digging the bold geometric patterns? If you enthusiastically raised your hand in agreement, then this might be the thing for you. I made 4 identical pieces of wall art, but when you put them together it makes a complete pattern! You can always stain it or paint it to be more mellow or more vibrant! I have full build plans available here.

    2.) Simple Open Shelving

When I have a large open wall , I often like to give it a little dimension. So, many times I will opt for open shelving in lieu of artwork or 2-D wall decor. I love shelving, because it is easy to change up for different seasons and it is also extremely practical! If you are a little wary of building, then this is the unit for you, it is one of the best beginner builder projects out there. I have all the details here.

    3.) Scrap Wood Wall Decor

Remember how I said that I love open shelving because it can easily be changed up to accommodate different seasons? Think of this next option as a multitude of mini-shelves. The variation of shelving is fun visual stimulation in-and-of-itself, but by adding simple stems it can change from Spring - Fall in no time at all! Definitely a "must" if you are on a tight budget. You can get all the details here.

    4.) Small Decorative Shelf

Here who likes Target?! I am assuming you all just mentally raised your hand. If so, this one might seem familiar. A few seasons ago Target had a very similar piece, but it ran a cool $50. Which isn’t awful, but when you can make it for a little over $10, it seems like highway robbery. Am I right ? You can whip up this knock off in an afternoon using only saw and some wood glue! ( I used a nail gun, but it’s totally doable with just wood glue if you are the patient type… I am not.) Get the build plans here.

    5. ) OVERSIZED Wall Art

I know, I know, I DID say that I was presenting you with 5 options for non-frame wall art... but really what I am trying to get you to do is to think OUTSIDE the box. I think this DIY oversized wall art is a great example. I have several large signs like this used in my home, and here is why: Sometimes I do have a large blank wall, but the room already has a lot going on. That is when I use a large simple piece like this. It fills the space without adding or taking away from the rest of it. PLUS, you can do this fairly cheaply as well! I can fill you in on all the details here.

There you have it folks, "5 Unique Ways to Decorate Your Walls" (Not to mention they are pocketbook friendly)!

Thank you so much for reading along, and a big "thank you" to Stacy for hosting!

If you are interested in more fun DIY ideas I would love for you to come and visit me at Sawdust 2 Stitches.

    Take Luck,

    Corey
