I am kind of in denial that we are almost done with yet another year. Maybe it is because I am getting older and it is true that time starts speeding up or because this year was the first year in a long time that things went fairly smoothly but I am not sure if I am quite ready to say good-bye to 2016. Like it or not, 2017 is coming our way. One thing I do love about the end of the year is that I get to look back at all the posts and projects and pick my favorite to share as a recap.
Normally I share in a totally random order, but this year I am going to share based on when I posted, so here is the first one on my list from January....
It is one of my all time favorite spaces I have ever decorated. I spend a lot of time in here so I guess it is a good thing I like it so much. The reclaimed wood shelves have been up for years and years but I painted over my turquoise walls and painted my floors. I added a whole wall of shelving for all the random things that didn't have a home, and added some photos and art that have a lot of meaning. The vintage rug was a find on ebay and the new light was found on Wayfair.
#2 Filing Cabinets....that don't look like filing cabinets
When completing the office makeover, I made over these white cabinets. The main change was that I made new doors and added new hardware. I made the top into a filing cabinet and below storage for office-y type things.
When I re-painted the kitchen, it meant the pantry needed a revamp as well since the older version was painted the same as the old kitchen. I am not sure why, but pretty pantries are one of my favorite thing to look at on Pinterest. I am thinking I am not alone in this because this was one of my most pinned projects from 2016.
#4 Garden Series
Technically this is more than one post, but it is my blog and so I am counting it ;) I have always talked about gardening on here but this year I organized it into topics and shared them through out the year. I talked about starting seeds indoors, garden planning and rotation, must have garden tools, weed control, and seed saving.
Ever since we moved into our home, I have been hoping that we would get to know to story of the family that built it back in the 1930's. This was the year that it happened! I hope you enjoyed reading the stories too :)
#6 Laundry Room
After I decorated this laundry room for my friend, Taralyn, I kind of coveted it. I love the black and white! It is fun to compare the before to the after since the before is so standard of new construction. This project took only a couple of days and about $200 to complete.
#7 Modern Card Catalog Side Table
I have a major thing for card catalogs anyway, but I think I love this project so much because my son helped me make it. It started out as three mismatched metal card catalog drawers. A little elbow grease, plywood, and hairpin legs and you have a unique side table perfect for a teens room!
This was another space I decorated for my friend. Her little girl was growing up and her space needed to reflect that. I have never used pink to this level in a room before and I actually had a lot of fun! The dresser was one of my favorite things in the room.
After all that pink, it was nice to go back to my comfort zone and decorate a room for my cute neighbor boy. I think I loved this space so much because almost everything in it was DIYed. I built the bed, painted the walls, made over the dresser, painted fabric for the curtains and pillow, and etched the mirror.
#10 Simple DIY Bench
My favorite thing from the little girl room I decorated was the bench I built. My kids wanted me to keep it but I told them I could build one for us later. I love the look in both the walnut and gold (from the pink room) and the grey and blue. It was the perfect thing to complete our entry.
Which of my posts were your favorites? What project that YOU completed was your favorite. I would LOVE to hear!!!
I also wanted to share some of my blogging friends and their top 10 posts of the year. Enjoy!

I liked your moss ball terrarium. Is it still doing well? I want to do one in my kids' bathroom but it doesn't have any windows so I don't know if they would survive.
They are doing great! They have almost doubled in size even though I have forgotten to change the water. I think they would be okay in the bathroom if you moved it to light every once in a while.
i see your monitor and a keyboard, but where do you set your tower?
I think if I had to pick a favorite I would choose your office.
Oooooh, all so fun! I LOVE your office. It was so great meeting you at Haven last year. Wishing you all the best in 2017.
