Meet Beth!
Hey guys! I'm so excited to be blog-swapping with Stacy today.
Stacy is always such a ray of sunshine whenever we get to hang out (usually at blogging conferences.) She has always been an inspiration to me, and I'm honored to be guest posting on her blog today. If we have not been introduced yet, my name is Beth and I've been blogging over at Unskinny Boppy for over ten years, which is forever and a day in the blogging world. I'd love for you to join me over there sometime!
This time of year is the most fun for me because I just love the holidays. I usually go all out with my holiday decor, so I have many years of Christmas decorating ideas built up in my archives. Well, let's face it, I love decorating ANY time of the year. But more than anything, I really love decorating for the holidays.
Simple Christmas Decorating Ideas
Some people find decorating for the holidays stressful, and I definitely feel the stress when I'm standing in piles of boxes and my house looks like a glitter tornado hit it. But once all the decorations are hung and all the clutter is cleared away, I LOVE sitting by the fire in the dark with nothing but the glow of the Christmas lights to light the room. It's so cozy!
Wanna know a little secret? Decorating for the holidays doesn't have to be overly stressful! There are some many simple holiday decorating ideas out there that anyone has the ability to turn there home into a beautiful winter wonderland.
If you're needing some ideas, check out some of my most simple holiday decorating ideas to make today.
Cut out a Christmas Village
My super creative friend over at Thoughts for Alice drew this gorgeous little Christmas village and linked it up as a printable on her blog a few years ago. You can head over there and print these out for yourself. Just cut them out and use a little bit of tape on the back of each one to display them on a tabletop. Add a string of lights behind them for a warm glow.
Jar up the Gingerbread
Every year the kids in my family get together and make Gingerbread Houses. Last year we decided to get fancy and display them inside glass jars filled with epsom salt to look like miniature snow-filled terrariums. This was a very easy way to take your gingerbread village to the next level.

Creative Christmas Tree Stand
Instead of a tree skirt, use a basket or bucket as a tree stand for an updated look without much effort. I have been using this burlap bucket for the past 5 years and I get so many compliments on it! Take my Christmas Decor Home Tour here to see how my tree looks this year!
Add Pretty Plants and Greenery
If you hate the thought of spending money on plants that will die after the holidays are over, buy an evergreen tree that you can replant in your yard. In the meantime, you can display it indoors for festive Christmas greenery. Use an old leather belt buckled around a piece of fabric to cover the plastic pot and look super cute for the holidays.
Everyone knows that December is the best time of year to bring home some evergreen plants, but there are plenty more pretty plants that bloom this time of year. This red amaryllis bulb is a stunner on my kitchen table, and it came from the local grocery store! Yep. Talk about simple.
Piles of Ornaments + Lights = Perfection
Make some big impact with very minimal effort by gathering a pile of ornaments and adding a string of lights to make them glow.
I've used this trick all over my house every year- just toss a string of lights and a bunch of ornaments together inside giant lanterns or in a vintage wooden box... basically any container large enough to hold them is the perfect place for this glowing light trick!
