I have a giveaway for a $200 Home Depot gift card at the end of the post sponsored by The Home Depot so make sure and read the whole post!
I posted about my love of Turkish rugs awhile ago and how there was a runner I was obsessed over, but that I didn't need a runner. What I really wanted was a smaller rug for my entry. I found it was very hard if not impossible to find one I loved in a smaller size that would fit in my small front doorway. I decided to take matters into my own hands and paint one!
This was the inspiration:
Or at least the section of it that I wanted to recreate. It is long!
I have the FULL TUTORIAL over on Home Depot's Apron Blog. But here is a little teaser....
What do you think? I decided not to add all the tiny details because it would be adding paint on top of paint and it would have gotten crusty.
I am actually thinking of *maybe* putting this in my kitchen. I will have to see what it looks like in there when I get the kitchen done (IF it ever gets done!)
Also, hop on over and see what my cleaning tips are to keeping my entryway spiderweb free, scuff free, and all around clean :)
Now let's giveaway a gift card shall we?

No entry. Front door opens right into my living room.
You can delete this one. It was making me reload the page last night...
love the rug!
Yes I do bright and cheery with a pop of red~ A new carpet would brighten and refresh it tho
I love mine it is white with a little pop of red
My entry is very basic, but I like the impact it makes when you enter!
I dont really like my entry. I would modernize it.
I like our entry, but it does need some paint and sprucing up since we just bought our house
I would love to get a sitting bench for my entry area and a new throw rug to make it cozier.
Oh wow, your rug looks fabulous. How fun is this.
My entry needs more color. It is a short hallway with light tile and light walls!
That looks so great! I love it! We have a small entry which is basically just a bank of doors - staircase to upstairs, basement entryway, closet door, door to garage. Haven't figured out how to decorate/style the area...but we do have the space for a big, beautiful rug.
My entry is nice but hard to decorate. It's octagon shape with 4 wall and 4 entry ways to dining room, living room, stairway. Feel like I need a big round table in the middle with a beautiful arrangement on it but that feels very "hotel lobby" to me. Love your rug!!
My entryway is just a covered porch that I share with my neighbor. It's not very exciting! They have very strict rules here about what we can put out on our porches/patios, so I'll have to wait until we're not renting anymore to really give it some character.
I, too, don't have a seperate entry. Our apartment door opens directly into the living/dining area. I have added a shelf with hooks to help with cutter at the door. Love your pop of red! It sure gets your attention!
We don't have much of an entryway in our house. The front door opens up right into the living room, however, I have a vision for a few things that could spruce it up & bring some separation, like a hutch or small cupboard for shoes, a new welcome mat (for the outside). Since we have extreme lack of storage space, I would probably use this gift card to help purchase some creativr storage shelves, cabinets, etc. Thanks for this giveaway!!
I like most of my entry but I don't like my front door. It lets in lots of light but it is half glass and I want more privacy. It is also just a little too narrow, other than that, it is fine.
I don't love that I don't have an actual entryway - the front door opens up straight into the living room. We also don't have a coat closet any where near the door so our guests' coats never get hung up nicely. #whatwerethebuildersthinking?
I don't hate my entry, but I don't love it just yet. I need a new console table but haven't found one that fits the dimensions I need.
I love the colors in your little rug. My entry foyer needs a bit of brightening up... thanks for the idea!
Ah, I love that entry space! The rug is the perfect pop of color. <3
I do like it. I would like to spruce it up with a nice welcome mat and get rid of some of the toys! :)
My door opens right into my living room, but we do have a rug and coat closet. Your tiff is really cool! Let us know how the paint hold up!
Love it!!!!
Love it. I have a rug I like right now at my front door, but I've had it for awhile and would like to change it up just not sure yet what I want instead.
I don't have an entry - front door opens into my living room. I'd like to set off that area a little more so it looks welcoming.
I have a bookshelf that we plopped down there when we moved in...3 years ago. I would like to have something more functional.
My entryway is cute but a little boring! I need to paint the door on the inside and definitely need a cute rug!
Wow! Looks so professional, you would never know it was painted!!
What a cheerful pop of color right inside the door!
I have a small entry with builders grade 6x6 ugly beige tiles that are chipped and worn from kids and dogs over 20 years that are screaming for a makeover. I would love to do some sort of mosaic tile design or some new wood look tile because the space is only about 5x5.
Fun rug! I'm interested to know how it fares in the wash. Will you let us know?
Beautiful Stacy! Thanks for the chance to win.
Yes, it is open and airy. Would replace the flooring if I had a chance.
No, I don't like my entry. There is no where to put a landing station for keys, shoes, bags, etc. Also, the main entry we use is off of a carport and I would rather have an enclosed garage.
Id like to paint that area and add a new mat and wreath on the door.
I don't really like my entryway just because it's this little tiled area with carpet all around it so it just feels cramped and uninviting. ;D If I could change it, I would make it all one flooring. ;D Maybe vinyl flooring. ;D
The one thing I don't like about my entry is that I am not utilizing the tall ceiling. I need larger artwork/mirro to take up more wall space. It's a work in progress!
I do like my entryway. the door is surrounded my sentimental family photos and uplifting quotes and it's almost always clean and tidy. I'm still not sure if I want to paint the door or not though; I feel like with a rental I have more limited options that way.
I've had to redefine what I think of as an entry way because our front door opens to the stairs and our living room. I've decorated the corner so as to make it welcoming and reflect our values while separating it somewhat from the other two spaces.
I like that my entry is open and bright but because it's so open there is nowhere to put a table or anything to personalize it. A rug on the tile is the only decorative thing there.
We are moving into a new house on Saturday and the entry way will need a little help because I don't have any thing to really put into it. I want to add a family photo and a little table to be able to put keys/mail on
I don't have an entry, but I do love this rug!
I don't have an entry. My front door opens into my living room!
Love, Love, Love your rug!
I would change the current stripes that everyone else seems to love but me! Ready for something fresh and new!
I've never thought about doing that. Love the idea!
That is a great project!!! I can't even believe how fabulous that looks! Great work!!! Thanks for the giveaway too!
I'd like to add some plants or a small tree.
Wow! That is gorgeous!
I like my entry way, but I'm not finished with it yet. I have a huge mirror that leans against the wall. It is a foyer with a high ceiling, but there isn't enough natural light to make it what I would have wanted, so I'm still looking around. Home Depot is my hunting ground.
LOVE! You are so talented! Makes me want to update my own entry!
Great paint job! Love the colors. I am going to try this. Thanks.
I do like this entry. I'm disabled and have so many things that need fixing and don't have the cash for.
Our entry could use some TLC. Our current rug has seen better days. Now you've got me thinking...
No entry here, either. But I do love my front door! It's bright red with our house number in bold white letters.
I have a tiny little entry area that was pretty much useless until I added an unused china buffet with a wall sized mirror over it to the spot directly behind the front door. Now it's quite functional. It's a drop off spot for mail, keys, purses and makeup. Those buffet drawer have all been put to good use. Thanks for the giveaway!
I do not like my entry. The door opens up directly to the stairs. Its a small space and I would love to figure out how to make it more inviting.
No, it needs more color and artwork.
I do not like my entry. The door opens up directly to the stairs. Its a small space and I would love to figure out how to make it more inviting. I would love to figure out with the door also going straight into the front room how to make a small separate area.
i love this rug and it looks great in your entryway! I've got to get to the Home Depot site to see how to keep those pesky spiders out of my entryway!
My entry is wide with great storage!
I love that your entryway is clean and uncluttered but it has the pops of color from the plant and rug. In my house I have to have storage by the door or else my kiddos things just get cluttered up there.
I like the nice clean feel!
My entry is very small opening right into the living room. It is inviting though! I would change the small rug there.
Love our house but wish we had a little more space in the entryway. Maybe a splash of color would help me forget about the lack of space. Love your rug.
Love all that cheery color. Gorgeous entryway. I wish mine was that spacious! I think I need a rug now ;)
I like my entryway, except for the fact that we don't have a coat closet to put our coats and shoes away.
I've been slowly adding little touches to my entry and I'm really beginning to like it! A plant was my last addition and it really perked things up.
Our entryway needs new tile. If you walk barefoot across it, you're in danger of jamming a toe on the uneven tiles!
So cute! I need to make one.
I don't like my entry. It's too dark and narrow. I would love to find a door with transom windows to let some light in.
So cute
No I don't because it's messy....we need a better way to organize the things that live there!
Beautiful rug! We live in a cabin in the woods so most of my rugs are brown (some because the outside tends to come in). Would love to be able to put something that colorful at my front door.
My entry is ok. I want to change the entry tile.
My entry opens right into my dining / living room area which is an open space. What I would change is the paint on the walls!
I always wanted an entry, but never was lucky enough to have one. My front doors have always opened right into my living room. :(
I don't like my entry. I really want a shoe/coat rack bench! Just have to talk the hubby into building it for me!
Recently we've made changes to our entry, but it's not done yet. Still need hooks for visitors to hang their coats! Maybe by the time winter comes again we'll have it done. I love your rug and would never guess you painted it!
My entry way is drab and boring and needs to be updated with a new rug, and some new lighting because it is dark and drab! I would add new lights, a rug and some plants to help spruce it up!
I like my entry. I have a table there with family pictures on it.
I would paint my entryway, but besides that I love it!
I like my entry better than when I moved in but it still needs a lot of work. I need to paint colors on the wall!
I love the rug! Great ideas!
I don't have too much of an "entry" because our front door opens into the dining room (old house quirks), but would love to spice it up with a rug and coat rack maybe to define the space as an "entry" a bit more.
No i do not like my entry way, there really is nothing there, pretty plain. All we have is a black rug. I would love to add a plant, maybe a mirror and a small side table too.
I really need to paint my door and spruce up my entry. We are working on the basement right now, so when that is finished I can get rid of the clutter and improve it. The $200 would be very helpful! Thanks for the chance!!
I would like to put some linoleum or wood flooring where you first enter instead having carpet there.
My front door opens directly into the small living room. It's pretty dark in general and unless the front door is open, that corner is even darker. Adding some light would definitely improve things.
I am actually in the process of adding a small table and two chairs to my entryway. I hope it looks as nice as I envision.
My entry is fine but I'd love to change the tile on the floor since it's been the same for over a decade and I'd like something a bit fresher.
Love my double entryway and new tile floor. Just needs a new rug and some paint
We are just about to close on a house half way across the country! I've loved my current house, and my new house is a completely diffrent style. I've been pinning like crazy getting new ideas for every room in the place. so do I like my new entry? Not really, but it's going to be an awesome place to refinish!
I am happy with my entry way. I like the storage it has and the nice chandelier above.
Perfect timing, I totally need a new rug for my entry way!
Stacy, you are so stinkin creative. I love your entryway and wouldn't change a darn thing. Your whole house is amazing!!! I need you to come fix mine up
Does it work well if actually stepped on on a regular basis?
I have been thinking about getting a bench with storage for our entry, and some new rugs.
My entry is so bland, I really do need to spruce it up, maybe with some color.
Our entryway is a mess! It actually has a ton of potential and some nice beadboard work that was done by the previous owners, but I need to get a bench and some shoe storage in there stat!
We have a split-foyer, where our entry leads to two staircases, one up and one down. The tiles could stand to be replaced, but overall I like it.
i would love to change it
I love my entry. There is nothing I want to change. Blessings
I'm redoing my deck and this would come in handy!
I would love to update the patio on our first home!!
I do like my entry...but I have no space for a table. I would love an entry with a cute table there to decorate for holidays, etc.
It's kinda of boring. I would love some pop when you walk in.
The entry into our house is pretty bad, we have some tiles that need to be replaced and a door mat that needs to be thrown out.
My entry is right in my living room - I'd like to pull up some of the carpet at the entrance and put down some tile and a rug so you don't have to step right onto the carpet.
I don't mind my entry but it could use a good rug and hooks or something for organization.
Oh so lovely colors!
I sort of like my entry but it does need a good sanding and a couple of coats of polyurethane. It's just a pain because its our main entry into the house that we use. With Spring here, its time to refresh the floor and open the windows
Wow, the painted rug is so close to the inspiration! It looks SO good. :)
It depends on which one. The one we use all the time is a work in progress, the front door entry is nice. Let's face it, we just moved into this place so there is a long to do list to make it ours. The selfie wall is up and that always makes me smile. (We had our friends take ridiculous selfie pictures and send to us)
Our entry is very small so I haven't quite figured out how to make it look so nice as yours! We have a red pendant light there right now and that's it!
demureprincess7(at)gmail(dot)com
I need to make a place to hang coats.
My apartment is too small and I don't have an entry.
We don’t have too much of an “entry” because our front door opens into the dining room/living room. Not really sure what to do there tho so maybe I can get more ideas from you :-) Thanks for the chance.
I like my entry but it really needs a new rug!
Oh my. We are fixing up a beach house, and I would love to have $200 to help out! ha! Love your blog by the way. New to me!
I like my entryway, but we don't use it often. We use the garage to come in (actually parking in the garage), so the front area actually stays nice. We manage to pile all the incoming paper/mail/junk near the garage door instead of the front door.
I like the flooring in our entry but it needs to be a larger space. There is no room to greet people.
Oh boy! My entry needs help. A little console-type table would be a welcome addition.
I would like a new door, a new light fixture, and add a bench.
Our entry door opens right into the living room. We are actually in the process of updating this whole area, adding new, bright colors. I would love to add something by door to make a bit trendy :)
I like the inside but I need to paint my door and get new screen doors.
No, I do not like it one bit. It desperately needs replaced!!
I do not like it currently. I would love to add a cute little table.
I do not like my entry. Our door is older and we get such drafts through it. I would love first...a new door. I would also love to add a mirror of some sort and pictures!
I like my entry, but it's a little boring and begging for some color!
I am starting to like my entry way, but I think that I need to find a rug to give it a little more character. Love the one that you chose.
My entry is kinda of boring. When you open the front door the first thing you see is my desk. I need to give it a makeover. Maybe I'll actually work on my desk instead of my bed and get inspired. lol
I like my entry, which has nice art and interesting furniture!
I dont have an entry, door opens to washroom
We could use fresh paintand a new rug.
no I don't like my entry, it's way too small and cluttered!
My entry is so small and plain. I'd love to add a mirror and a table to it.
Our entryway is so bland. It definitely could be spruced up either by painting it a different color or adding some nice homey touches like a colorful rug and vase and new pictures.
I don't really have much of any entry. When you walk in the door, there's a closet behind the opened door and then a tiny wall before you walk right into the living area. It would be nice to have an entry way where I could have a table...maybe someday!
I don't really have any entry either. When you open the front door, there is a closet behind it and a small wall to the left. There isn't much to decorate. Someday I'd like to have enough room in a home to have a table in my entryway.
Yes I Like My Entry, It Has A Rug And Plants.
I ABSOLUTELY need a new rug. Mine is plain!
Yes, except for when everyone leaves a huge mess for me to clean up!
Love the look of the rug
Front door opens right into my living room.
Yes. My entry is really pretty with plants and a nice shelf in the corner.
I dont like my entry. I would try to modernize it.
I don't like my entry, I need to change the colors.
My entry is okay, but needs more storage!
I'd like to pull up some of the carpet at the entrance and put down some tile and a rug so you don't have to step right onto the carpet.to glue leather
