Haven blog conference is held in Atlanta, Georgia. It just so happens that the Home Depot Headquarters is also in Atlanta. So during the conference a few of us slipped away so we could have a sneak peek!
It looked like an ordinary office building from the outside. When we drove onto the lot we noticed a large, fun daycare center for the kids of the employees. It was adorable and I wish I would have rolled down the window and taken pictures.
I loved that one of the first things I saw when we entered was a mailbox that said "Letter to Troops" where employees can send off notes to those who serve.
(Bonus points to anyone who can tell me who these guys are in the picture!!!)
There is also a wall dedicated to them. My patriotic self gets all weepy when I think of all HD has done for veterans. You can read more about my experiences with The Home Depot Foundation in my post about the Dilley family and when they got their $60,000 home renovation, my post about Stiggy's Dogs, my post about building at the new veteran's homes, my post about the Fisher House, or the Celebration of Service hometown visit. Needless to say, I love helping veterans and I love that Home Depot is so committed to the cause.
One hallway is dubbed "main street" since it has just about anything you might need. A dry cleaner, a pharmacy, a few restaurants just to name a few. And there is even a museum!
The offices on most of the floors look like a typical office setting. But the team that I get to work with have their floor set up differently. Instead of some people having an office and the rest having cubicles, the old office have been turned into conference rooms and the other area is very open. It reminded me of the Pinterest offices!
The green room is where they planned their part of Haven conference! All their notes and schedules about it were still on the whiteboard :)
It is fun to see the behind the scenes of companies I not only shop at, but also work with as a blogger.
If you could go to any company's headquarters what would it be and why?

Wow, this brought back some memories. I worked for the big orange box for 6 years and traveled to HQ twice! "These guys" are Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank, founders of THD.
If I could visit some headquarters, I would probably visit Ben & Jerry's, Ciao Bella gelato and Turkey Hill to try to pick up tips for my potential future business making ice cream.
Wow! It sounds like you have some exciting possibilities in your future! An ice cream business sounds fun :) And you are of course right, they are the founders!
It's really nice to know that the founders of the company recognize that their company is built by all of us who shop there, and I especially like their programs for veterans.
Yes, yes, yes :) 100% agree!
Wow that is cool. Thanks for the inside look!
I loved the inside look of Home Depot since they are my go to DIY supply store. Thanks for sharing this great place. Maybe someday I can visit.
