Yesterday was a good day. The weather was cool and I had the windows open. The sun was shining and my house was fill with light and a soft breeze. After a couple of weeks of being sad that my kids were back in school, I've come to terms with this new phase and I'm trying to really allow myself to enjoy the quiet. I think our souls need quiet sometimes. It's in the quiet that the spirit can speak to us. The quiet is when we can be rejuvenated and hit that reset button.
Another way I like to hit the reset button is to go in the mountains. We went camping a couple of weekends ago and found 4 new hiking trails. We wanted one last trip before we had to say good-bye to summer.
Bits of Fall colors are creeping in.
I have a love affair with the ocean and sometimes I let myself have a pity party that I can not afford to visit the beach very often. But when I was hiking I looked around and realized hat I should be more grateful for the mountains that are so close to me and that I get to visit often.
I have lived near this mountain range my whole life and never have visited Devil's kitchen before. It was pretty!
We found a new campsite that we really liked that was right up against Salt Creek. It was called Ponderosa and was along the Nebo loop (closer to the Nephi side).
It rained on us one afternoon but we huddled under the tarp contraption Shane set up and told stories.
We are always looking for new places to camp. Where are your favorite spots?
I hope you have a relaxing weekend and re able to hit your own reset button :)

I just got home from four days at a cabin in northeastern Minnesota in the middle of the woods. Not nearly long enough but it was enough for a renewed look at what's important in my life. Totally necessary to do that often....listen to the quiet and enjoy it and entertain yourself with just nature.
That sounds heavenly!
What a lovely outing - thanks for sharing. :)
We love Capitol Reef. Your boys would love it!
I have never been there! It is officially on our list now :)
I'm my own 1938 "cottage" and not as easy to fix up as is yours! ;-)
Being born and raised in northern Ohio and then moving to the outskirts of NYC and now 20 years in southern CA, I'm sure of one thing: I bloom where I'm planted.
Here, however, is no more worry about snow. Ahhhh, that's good for these ole bones.
