    DIY Fall Mantel Sign

    By Stacy 34 Comments

Fall arrived a bit late here in Utah due to the crazy weather we have had this year, but the leaves have finally started to change colors in the mountains. The pumpkins are ready to harvest, and the temperatures have dropped. To celebrate, I created a DIY fall mantel sign with all my favorite fall words!

This post is sponsored by HomeRight but all ideas and opinions are 100% my own. This post contains affiliate links.

    DIY Fall Mantel Sign

Ever since I built the frame to go around our TV, I have had fun making different artwork and signs to fit inside of it to hide the TV when we aren't using it. I like to use either ⅛" plywood or hardboard. Both are lightweight and easy to pop in and out. After I cut the hardboard to size I got my spray shelter set up. I love this little one because it pops up in seconds!

I almost went with an orange color but since the leaves and pumpkins would have orange tones, so I decided to go with a complimentary green color. Since I have green accents in the room, it also helps tie the mantel into the rest of the space.

The Quick Finish Sprayer is so easy to use and even easier to clean!

While the paint was drying, I created a design on my computer and cut it out with my cricut machine. You could easily use a paint pen and write out the words if you want. I just have terrible handwriting so I chose to use vinyl instead.

    weeding vinyl

After weeding the vinyl, I used a ruler and some chalk to create lines so I could place the vinyl in the center and to ensure they went on straight. It is always nerve wracking to place such a big design down!

    adding vinyl to painted sign

For the sign, I decided to just add a list of all my favorite things about fall. The font I used is called Yours Truly.

    The vinyl says:

    "cool nights and crisp air

    Falling leaves, pumpkins

    cozy sweaters and fires

    golden sunlight, soft breeze

    apple cider and hayrides

    hot soup, garden harvest"

    fall mantel with painted sign

I harvested a few of the pumpkins from our garden but some still need time to turn orange. I was able to go up the canyon (a 5 minute drive from my house) to collect a few leaves since the leaves down here have yet to change.

I don't really do anything to clean it. Haha! If the paint builds up too much you can kind of peel it off. This was a new one so that is why it is perfectly clean.

What an adorable setup! I love the idea of covering the TV when it's not in use.

I'm always looking for things to spray paint, but outside has bugs and inside is inside! This would be awesome to win.

The paint shelter would be a great addition to my decorating/crafting
repetoire! Any visitor can tell what paint color I've been using by looking
at the stones in our driveway. [My husband is not a fan, so I rake the stones, mixing the painted ones in when I'm finished with my project.

My favorite thing about Halloween is the happy children of my neighborhood dressed up in their favorite "scary" costumes. I have handed out glow-in-the-dark bracelets for the last 30 years and they love them! Their mothers thank me every year for not giving their children more candy! And their children can be seen by drivers, too.

I love Fall as much as I love Spring. Living in Florida, I don't get to see the change of leaves or the Fall colors but I love the little bit of cooler crisp in the air. It's still hot during the day but the evenings are just wonderful.
This is my time to be outdoors working on projects, weeding, and all things DIY. It's certainly the perfect time to mingle with the neighbors as the mosquitos won't carry us away like in the Summer. LOL
That spray tent would be the best addition for my DIY projects and painting my daughter's room furniture for sure. :)

Oh my gosh! This is your secret for spray painting! I wondered how you kept the overspray off your lawn, out of the garage, or wherever you use your sprayer. I’d love to win this spray tent. Today, I’m spraying in the back wooded area & turning th3 leaves various shades of autumn…. LOL!
