10 years ago I would have sworn my devotion to dark wood and dark wood only. Light wood was dated in my opinion (and at the time it kind of was) and I wanted all the wood in my home to look like rich walnut. Then medium wood tones started to worm their way into my heart and for the first time I started to mix wood tones in my home. Fast forward to today and gosh darn it if light wood isn't starting to wiggle its way into my good graces. I am seeing it more and more and I have to say I love it!
Here are some of my favorite examples I have found.

I adore the contract of the dark beams and furniture pieces with the lighter floors. Mixing wood tones is so good people!

Since I have rounded doorways in my home I am instantly drawn to that architectural feature. That plus the light, plants, and the mixed wood tones have me crushing on this whole space!

I'll be curious to see how long barn doors stay "a thing" but it has been fun to see all the different interpretations including this more modern, light wood door.

One of the things I love about the lighter wood, is it seem to have a more casual feel. A dressed down, welcoming vibe that seem to say "stay awhile". This entry table is beautiful and is styled to perfection.

Since our house is older and we lack a lot of closet space, we have some cabinets and armoires for extra storage. How beautiful is this one?

If I were to design a brand new kitchen today from the ground up, I think I would add cabinets in this color or something very similar.

I'm not going to lie, I am on the fence about the plywood cabinets. I think it is one of those "it looks so cool in that space but I wouldn't want it in my own home" kind of things. But I do have a major crush on those light wood shelves!

Gold, marble and light wood, oh my! This is one beautiful kitchen! It also proves that light wood doesn't always need to be casual. Its worth hoping over to see the full space.

Maybe it's because my house has lath and plaster and I have always thought it looked so cool when exposed, but I TOTALLY want a thin slatted wall like this now! I seriously think I need to find a wall to try this out on. What do you think?

buying a new "old" house 1906. Light hardwood floors, I'm thrilled. Getting all new kitchen cabinets and appliances. Opted for antiqued ivory cabinets. Haven't signed the final papers, but "boy! am I excited. I like white with gray trim, so far. more after the papers are sgned.
