    Beach Therapy

    By Stacy 17 Comments

Like I mentioned before, we took a day to go to the Oregon coast on our way home from our trip to the Seattle area. We stayed in Seaside and traveled to Hay Stack Rock on Cannon Beach. We had never been to that beach and we had so much fun exploring!  We got up super early so we could get there when the tides were out. Normally the rock is surrounded by water. We wanted to see the creatures in the tide pools.

We got to see the sunrise :)

I am fascinated by tide pools. I have been to several aquariums and I love that too, but there is something so neat about seeing these animals in their natural habitat. I loved sharing it with my excited, curious children.

My kids were so gentle and respectful. They were so careful of where they stepped and were in awe.

Because the trip was a spontaneous idea, we didn't come prepared with the right clothing or anything to play in the sand with. But they had so much fun anyway :)

In Seaside  there is a restaurant called BigFoot's that has several statues outside. My boys got a big kick out of it since they are currently convinced that they exists and are obsessing over it.  They crack me up!

We ate lunch at Mo's while we were there too. We don't eat out often plus my kids love seafood. So this was a special treat for them. The fact that they could look out the window and see the beach was a bonus.

For some reason the Oregon coast is a special place to our family. We fell in love the first time we went there 8 or 9 years ago. I would love nothing more than to visit at least once a year. Maybe once year.......

Do you have a favorite place to go when your family needs to get away???

We love the beach too. We only live about an hour away from San Francisco, but it takes close to two hours to get to the nicer beaches. You have to drive over very windy roads to get there. So we don't get there as often as we would like. But my husband confessed to me that one day when he rode his motorcycle to work, he took off at lunch and road to the beach. He just laid there on the sand listening to the waves until it was time to go back to work. :)

I am so glad that you were able to have this special trip with your family. Your boys are so cute. I would like to visit this area someday. My husband was in the army in Tacoma, WA before we met and went to Seaside, Oregon when he had some free time. :)

The smiles on their faces says it all, and the big kid has a pretty handsome smile himself!

Looks lovely! I've never visited up the Cannon Beach way, but I have definitely had Mo's. And, I love the clam chowder. But only theirs...

So glad you were able to get that mini vacation. The Oregon coast is a spectacular site, isn't it? I live in Oregon, just about an hour away from the coast and love it - but within the state, my long weekend travels take me to the eastern side in the high desert. The fresh air in the mountains and high desert are what draws me. Outside of the state, some of our favorite places are Jackson Hole, Moab and San Francisco. Family trips are the best!!

Oh, and next time you make a trip to the coast, try Lincoln City. Great beaches to play, skim surf and sit around a campfire when you watch the sunset. August and September are perfect.

      Have a great weekend!

The food there was wonderful. We always take family to Mo's also. So nice for you and your family to get away to such a magical place.

My fav vacation spot ever is Seaside, Cannon Beach/Arch cape area. We travel there every summer(going on 12 years now) and stay in a beach house 100 feet from the ocean! I love this area and all the nature nestled in everywhere you look! It's a beautiful area and a wonderful place to go to relax and enjoy your loved ones!
