To make this cake I poured 2 cupcakes and then the rest of the batter went into a 9x13 pan. When it had cooled I took them out of the pan and froze them. Then I cut them like this.
I cut a a little bit off the arms so they would angle down and I rounded the corners on the left side of the body to match the right. Once it is assembled it won't fit on a cookie sheet ( my usual choice) so I used some cardboard covered in plastic wrap.
When you go to mix your frosting, if the black food coloring makes your frosting look a little lavender instead of grey, add a tiny drop of yellow to fix it. Crumb coating is a MUST with this cake. After you crumb coat it put it in the freezer for at least ten minutes so the frosting will get hard. It will make frosting the second coat much easier. You will need a lot of frosting since there is a lot of surface area to cover. It will take awhile to get it nice and smooth since there are a lot of nooks and crannies so make sure you budget your time well. I piped a darker grey frosting for the lines on the arms. It might be cute to add them to the legs as well. I used a Kit Kat for the mouth, Life Savers for the eyes, a pipe cleaner for part of the antennae, and gum drops for the on/off buttons and top of the antennae.
