    Painting Window Boxes

    By Stacy 90 Comments

We have been working hard on getting the outside of our house looking a bit better. It has been a long time since we have painted the trim and it was peeling off. Plus I was ready for a change. The trim has been red for 10 years! I painted one window last year to test the brown color and see if we liked it. After living with it for awhile we decided to paint all the trim this dark brown. We also recently got a new roof! The trim was painted and we had a new roof and all of a sudden it was painfully obvious that our shutters and window boxes needed a refresh.

    shutters and window boxes before

We have wanted to build another window box so the house was more balanced. I built the first one forever ago out of 1x6 boards and some trim. Shane built the second one while I was sick in bed with pneumonia last week. Now that I am feeling better, I was ready to paint them a fun new color! Bye, bye brown and hello BLUE!

Painting anything with trim is a pain with a brush. The first time I painted the first window box I tried it with a brush and it took forever! Spraying is the only way to go! I love my small and mighty Finish Max!

To secure the boxes to the window area, I use these hooks and eyes.

I am so happy with how the blue window boxes look all filed with flowers!

Our little cottage looks all dressed up for summer. I just need to get some planters on the porch and we are good to go. Better late than never :)

Love the color of the window box. It adds such a pop! Painting is most definitely on that list of things to do. To be honest, I have a list that never ends...we just mark something off and add something new..hahahhaha . Towards the top is yard work and building a lemonade stand for my daughter.

My main goal this summer is to have fun and spend intentional time with my 6 kiddos! There are so many things that need to get done in our little home that sometimes it seems so overwhelming. We have so many things to paint, but with little children who love to help... Big messes can be made instead. Hope to get the trim painted in the house before the end of July, we will see how that goes. Thank you for the opportunity to work! Your house looks amazing!

My Summer to-do list involves putting new coats of protective stain on my home and decks, and painting the outside furniture. I won't have much money left for plantings, so I will have to be happy with what I have. I also hope to update our garden edging with rocks I find around our property. Your blue flower boxes are so cheerful and really liven up those windows wonderfully!
