    Crushing On: Leather Furniture

    By Stacy 7 Comments

I am a huge fan of leather (or faux leather) furniture. As a mom of 4 boys and a dog, it has been so easy to care for over the years. But aside from the ease of cleanup, it looks amazing! It adds a richness to a space like nothing else can. I am partial to warm brown tones. From sofas, to benches, to bar stools, I am totally crushing on leather furniture! Here are my favorite examples of how to incorporate leather furniture into every room in your house.

    Leather Sofas

I love the buttery smooth texture of real leather. It is so soft and cozy. This sofa is perfection in this rustic space!

This is my second leather sofa that I have owned and I love the clean lines and low profile. It works well in our small living room.

Plush enough to lounge on but easy to clean!

    Leather Poufs & Coffee Tables

I love this oversized pouf that act as a foot rest and coffee table. Perfect for a family room!

This stunning leather tufted coffee table is paired with metal. I love the soft mixed with soft materials.

    Leather Beds & Headboards

I love this masculine, modern take on a headboard!

Reading in bed would be comfy with this padded leather headboard.

While it might be a bit masculine on its own, if needed, you can easily add feminine touches with bedding and pillows to balance it out.

    Leather Benches

I love the metal frame of this bench. It goes well with the leather and keeps the space feeling open.

How fun is this leather woven bench? It reminds me of the woven leather pillow I made. I bet this could be a pretty simple DIY.

I think this bench looks cozy enough to be in a living room. But it makes a cute entryway bench too.

Leather Bar Stools & Dining Chairs

I am OBSESSED with these leather bar stools! If I had a bar in my house, I would do something similar to this.

    Leather Chairs

Aside from the traditional leather armchairs, there are lots of other styles that would look great in your living room, like this!

We bought our first new couch, dark brown faux leather, 5 years ago, after going through numerous "hand-me-down" fabric couches. I have 4 young boys and had YOUR blog was one of the reasons I convinced my husband that we should go with leather! Because of how you shared about living your old couch, how easy to clean it was and it wore well for so long.... we started asking around and found many who felt the same. We love our couch and love seat....thet look just like when we bought them!

Hi Stacy! I have faux leather barstools that I love - but I've shied away from a leather couch for two reasons. 1) I live where the summers are very hot & thought that we would sweat against leather or faux leather & 2) We have a dog that gets up on the couch and I thought his nails would scratch or even puncture the leather.
Now we are moving and our large sectional will not fit in our tiny farmhouse. I am tempted to look at getting a reclining leather loveseat but for the reasons I mentioned above. I would love for you and others to comment on living with leather in a hot climate & with

Get a good heavy leather couch. They cost more but last and wear really long. Natussi (sp) leather is strong and has withstood 3 German shepherds over the past 25 years. Still looks great.

        Hi Carrie!

My last couch had kind of a shine to it. I never felt hot or sticky, but in the winter, it was cold to the touch at first. I usually either wore long pants or used a blanket until it warmed up. My sofa now has a more suede like feel and isn't really hot or cold.
There are a lot of different types of leather but they are all really durable. As far as scratches go, both of mine have scratched (if scratched hard) by my dog if he started to get crazy playing with the kids. If it is a light scratch, I get a damp rag and just rub it. It goes away! I also have leather conditioner for the deeper ones. Leather dries out so every year it is good to condition it. The kits come with leather cleaner too. When you buy your couch or chair, find out what type of leather and either ask the sales person or google which type of leather care kit to get. It will keep it looking like new!
        I hope that helps!

We bought our first leather couch back in 1996. A store in Louisville was going out of business. Classic design heavy leather in burgundy. Nattutsi (sp) brand. It goes with everything and is so comfortable. Doesn’t tear with large dogs getting on it secretly either. So we have had it almost 25 years and still in great shape. We also have a leather recliner and another leather couch in our living room. Best bang for your buck to buy good leather furniture. Always in style!

I agree! It might be a little more that an upholstered one, but lasts so much longer!
