    Crushing On: Herringbone

    By Stacy 4 Comments

I love herringbone and I love that this classic pattern is rising again in popularity. I have seen it used in so many different ways. I love that there are modern takes on a traditional pattern. I have gathered some of my favorite examples to show you why I am crushing on herringbone.

I am in the market for a few new rugs and several herringbone rugs have caught my eye. I love this one in a shared kid space!

This oversized pattern is perfect in a light neutral color. It adds texture to the space.

This contemporary take on the herringbone pattern is stunning in this entryway.

There is something so soothing and organic about this whole space. The rug is the perfect touch!

This photo makes me wish I had wood stairs. If I did, you can bet I would have this exact stair runner! Gorgeous!

Umm, I will take one of everything please! I have a couple of boys' rooms to decorate soon and I am tempted to use this wallpaper. It is so fun without being overwhelming.

This modern take on the herringbone pattern is so chic! I love the simplicity of it. Maybe I could add it to my hallway...

I've decided my favorite colors for the herringbone pattern are blue and gray. This is another example of the whimsy it can add to a space without completely taking over.

Talk about visual interest! This could have been a boring white bathroom but instead it looks so chic!

I love green! This green tile is amazing.

I think this kitchen makes it into my top 10 favorite kitchens ever. From the rustic table, to the vintage inspired cabinets to of course, the tile!

This marble tile with gray grout is herringbone perfection!

From brick floors to brick fireplaces, brick is stunning when laid in this pattern.

I am obsessed with the coloring of this tile!

This flooring is stunning! And while I have literally sat and stared at it for longer than I care to admit, I wonder if it would get old if you lived with it in all the rooms of your space. What do you think?

As someone who has cut and installed tile, I think it is amazing that not only the tile is in this pattern, but that the lines within the tile also match that pattern. So incredibly beautiful!

Upholstery is probably the first thing most people think of when they hear "herringbone". I have a bench upholstered in gray herringbone and I love it. Not only does it look nice, it is such a durable fabric. This navy chair is so pretty!

It doesn't have to just be tile or fabric that this pattern makes an appearance. I love the large scale pattern on this dresser.

Are you looking for a statement piece? This dresser turned side table is just that!

How fun is this shower curtain? It would be perfect for an adult or a child's bathroom.

Okay, I lied. I also like this pattern in green! And this is not related to herringbone, but how cool is the green piping on hat chair?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you love herringbone? Do you have this pattern in your home? If so, where? I would love to hear about it!

I love herringbone too so I sure give it a 10. None in my home but I also need a rug or 2, and I am leaning that way. Thanks for your examples.

Assuming 10 is absolute love, then a 10! I love every picture you included here. Funny thing is, I never really got into chevrons, which are so similar I can't understand the difference. Just know I love herringbone.

I must be loving it a bunch too because I just bought a new quilt that's teal, but has a herringbone pattern stitched on. Its Relaxed Wash Quilt from Target. Along with that I had already been looking at some awesome herringbone rugs to go with it.
