I have always been aware of design since I can remember. As a child I loved driving around and looking at the different types of houses. I loved going into people’s homes and seeing their decor. And I LOVED looking through magazines to get ideas. I started tearing out pages and sticking them in my journal at about age 10.
I have also always loved creating things. I have been painting and building things since I was a child. I would save up my money and spend it at the craft stores buying supplies. I would sneak into my dad’s shed and get his tools too :)
I like working with a small budget because I think it forces you to think outside of the box. I take pride in having unique pieces in my home and that is one reason I don’t really follow trends. I didn’t even know what Anthropology, Ballard, and all those stores were until months after starting this blog. I get my inspiration from the things around me. Most of the projects I do involve power tools because that is what I am comfortable using and what I LOVE to do.
I am a stay-at-home mom of four boys and I have been married for 15 years. I build and refinish furniture, paint, decorate, cook, garden, read, and make lists. I would much rather be outside than in. I LOVE to try new things and challenge myself. I have a huge list of things I want to learn how to do before I die. I hate shopping, unless you count Home Depot. I was a major tom boy growing up which is probably why I have all boys. I wouldn’t know what to do with a girl! I love being a mom and wife more than anything. It is hard, frustrating, and dirty work. But it is also rewarding. But aside from being “mom” I also try to be “me”. I need to nurture my talents, have fun with hobbies, and take time for myself so I don’t go insane! I started this blog to share my ideas and to hopefully get ideas from you. Please feel free to share your thoughts!
