DIY date basket

I think when it comes to dating your spouse or significant other, it is important to not just plan things that YOU love to do but to think of things that they like as well. For every sci-fi movie my husband and I see, we see a chick flick to even it out.

In my case, a DIY project is something I like more than my hubby, but a lot of you it might be the other thing around.

Also, if you are like me, you may have a hard time finding sitters all the time. A date night at home is perfect for when you can’t go out. And if you are home, why not get something productive done and have fun while you are at it!

I have included:

* 2 custom shirts (one for you and one for your hubby) to wear while you are getting your DIY on. I made them and they say “The couple that DIYs together stays together”.

* Treats (including my all time fave Mint Truffle bars)! The tool shaped chocolates are the cutest :)

* The Ellen dance music CD so you can rock out while working

* A $100 Home Depot gift card to use to buy the supplies for your project

So think of a fun project, put the kids or fur babies to bed, and get going on completing it together :)

I want to replace the homemade counter tops that are starting to crumble in my 80 year old kitchen. The homemade cabinetry is still in good shape but the counter tops are terrible. We want to make homemade butcher block counter tops to keep the feel of this original farm house.

My husband and I are both graduate students (aka the cash flow isn’t overflowing in our house). So, we absolutely love to DIY together, hence this precious gift basket would be perfect! We were given a hand-me-down dining room table before we got married and it is now literally falling apart. Since we both enjoy cooking and eating meals together, this is a major problem! We have been wanting to build a new table together, but have lacked the extra money to do so. So, building that table would be the first thing we would do if we were blessed with this sweet gift.

The ceremony space for our wedding is an open field near a parking lot…. no way to do a fun “open the doors and there’s the bride!” moment. So I think our building date would be making some kind of frame that we could hang curtains from to block off the view of me struggling to get out of a car in a big poofy dress!
