    DIY date basket

I think when it comes to dating your spouse or significant other, it is important to not just plan things that YOU love to do but to think of things that they like as well. For every sci-fi movie my husband and I see, we see a chick flick to even it out.

In my case, a DIY project is something I like more than my hubby, but a lot of you it might be the other thing around.

Also, if you are like me, you may have a hard time finding sitters all the time. A date night at home is perfect for when you can't go out. And if you are home, why not get something productive done and have fun while you are at it!

    I have included:

    * 2 custom shirts (one for you and one for your hubby) to wear while you are getting your DIY on. I made them and they say "The couple that DIYs together stays together".

    * Treats (including my all time fave Mint Truffle bars)! The tool shaped chocolates are the cutest :)

    * The Ellen dance music CD so you can rock out while working

    * A $100 Home Depot gift card to use to buy the supplies for your project

So think of a fun project, put the kids or fur babies to bed, and get going on completing it together :)

I want to replace the homemade counter tops that are starting to crumble in my 80 year old kitchen. The homemade cabinetry is still in good shape but the counter tops are terrible. We want to make homemade butcher block counter tops to keep the feel of this original farm house.

I can't seem to get my own comment thread to work, so I thought I'd reply to yours. We want to make some flower boxes, too! Our front windows are big, boring rectangles, and every year we say we're going to spruce them up. This might be our chance!

I'm not sure what we'd work on together! We live in an apartment, so we're somewhat limited. If I had my way, we'd rehab a dresser for me. I'm sick of my boring faux wood one that I've had since I was young. I'm not sure that my husband would find that very exciting, though! haha

My hubby and I love DIY's around our house. We've done a few things already (shelving in our living room for dvd storage and a 3 tier cat shelving unit for our furry children). Next we want to build a dining room table because we love to entertain and our current table only fits 4 comfortably. My husband already has the plans laid out for it and this would be the perfect Valentine's gift to jump start our new table!

My husband and I are both graduate students (aka the cash flow isn't overflowing in our house). So, we absolutely love to DIY together, hence this precious gift basket would be perfect! We were given a hand-me-down dining room table before we got married and it is now literally falling apart. Since we both enjoy cooking and eating meals together, this is a major problem! We have been wanting to build a new table together, but have lacked the extra money to do so. So, building that table would be the first thing we would do if we were blessed with this sweet gift.

Oh! My hubby would love this date! Last month while visiting family for Christmas we bought a '74 Terry travel trailer! It's a fixer upper and that's the project we would work on! It needs paint for sure and this would give me an excuse to sew because it also needs some curtains!

Right now I'm working on SIMPLIFYING everything in our house. With two small kids, we've acquired quite a bit of junk. Plus, there are a lot of needy people in the area that could use toys, clothes, and the like. While not technically a DIY project, it needs to be done before any of my OTHER projects can get done, so I think I'd tackle this first with the husband! :)

This is so awesome! Such a cute idea! My grandma actually gave us a thing of cubby holes for our 1 1/2 year old son's room. It came right out of a classroom so it's just the standard wood color, not very aesthetically pleasing at ALL but I plan to use it for storage for my little man's insane amount of toys that everyone keeps buying him haha. It's just been sitting in his room for months and I have been wanting to sand it and paint it and get it decorated for so long now and this is just the push I need! I would LOVE to win this!!!!
