My nose works on overdrive. If I were a super hero I would be SUPER SMELLER! Okay, lame... But seriously, my nose can sniff out things before other people. And in a house full of 5 boys that can be a bad, bad thing.
I am a smell person. Smell is important to me. Have you noticed that the people in your life have a specific smell that is just theirs? Maybe it is their cologne, hair spray, or laundry soap they use. Well, my house has a smell. And it isn't from the personal hygiene items we use. It is called Fresh Fruit and it comes from something called Beanie Melts. I have used them for about 4 years and I LOVE them BIG time.
This is going to come off as cheesy, but I think that not only should your home look nice and reflect who you are but it should smell nice too. I think it completes the whole experience. Does that even make sense? As creative people we are very visual and that is the first thing we notice are the way something or someone looks. But if you walked into a gorgeous house but it smelled like rotten garbage, it wouldn't be the same. Sorry, I didn't mean to go on a smell rant......
My sister told me about them after I asked her why her house always smells so good. They are made by Ashman Candles (here in UTAH!!!). Beanie Melts look like someone melted a candle in an ice cube tray. You pop out 4 at a time and put them in a warmer thingy. Actually I use a mason jar on top of a candle warmer. Works great!
I love them so much and when my husband was unemployed and we couldn't afford to buy anything but the essentials (and sometimes not even that), I went through some serious withdrawal. My house went from smelling amazing to smelling like.....5 boys.
I love them so much that I contacted the company to see if I could write a post about them. Really. I did. Normally a company contacts me and requests that. But I honestly love them enough to break the bloggy rules. :)
While my favorite is called Fresh Fruit, they have a TON of different scents. And they don't just have the Beanie Melts.......
(That rootbeer candle sounds yummy!)
Ashman candles let me try their sent called Holiday Home Coming. Normally I am a strictly Fresh Fruit kinda gal, but HOLY MOLY! My house now has a new holiday smell! I can't handle a strong cinnamon smell so I am always hesitant to get the holiday type candles. This one rocked my socks! The description from their site is: A warm slice of orange gingerbread topped with vanilla ice cream. It is now my husbands favorite.
I have a treat for you today!!!! Ashman candles is offer you all a 20% off discount when you use the code christmas11.
I am kind of giddy! I really want you to try them. And if you do order, try the Fresh Fruit Beanie Melts. AMAZING! Then your house can have my house's smell :)

Thank you so much! I have been looking for an alternative to Scentsy because I don't like very many of their scents. These sound amazing!!
That holiday scent sounds amazing.
I'm a smell person too. One of the reasons I lost the attraction to my ex-boyfriend is because he let himself go, smell wise. He went from smelling so good to smelling horrible. I just couldn't do it.
I completely agree with you about a house needing to smell just as good as it looks! I have been trying for so long and I cannot find anything that works and continues to work. I have tried all sorts of things and the house smells great for a few weeks and then we are back to square one (even with the smell good thing still supposedly working). So a few questions before I try your great Beanie melts. How many places do you put yours? Do you have one in each room, etc? How long does a few Beanie Melts last for? I am really excited to use your coupon code and try these out. Maybe this is exactly what I have been searching for! Thanks!
I only have one warmer. I put 3 0r 4 of the cubes in the warmer at a time. If I remember to turn it off at night it will last about a week. If I forget and it is on 24/7 then about 4 days. So I can make one pack last a month. I hope you will give them a try :)
Hi! Just found your blog and i really love it - I've just spent the past few hours immersed in it (did that much time really go by? - geeze! ). Great photos and really clear and easy to follow tutorials. I also really like the way you write too, feels so personal, like sitting down to chat with a friend. :) My next project is definately going to be the checkerboard kitchen ceiling - love it! Anyway, you mentioned in this post that you use a mason jar over a candle burner for your beanie melts and I was wondering what type of burner you found that fits a mason jar and do you have a post or photo on your blog somewhere with a photo of it? I've just recently started reading blogs (through pinterest), and am not so good at navigating through them to find specific tutorials. Thanks for taking the time to read my question, and thanks for taking your time to write such a great website. Lora
