After building a basic frame out of 2x4s, add the pickets to both sides of the gate. Make sure to use exterior screws.
Mark where the top of the gate needs to be. in the center of the gates with a pencil.
Mark where the frame ends. You will be connecting the top mark with this side mark to create the arch.
Using a string and a pencil, draw the arched line. The string can be secured to the middle of the gate using a thumb tac.
Using a jigsaw, carefully cut along the arched line. Make sure you are wearing safety glasses.
You will repeat the marking and cutting process for the other side of the gate.
Sand both sides of the gates with a 220 grit sandpaper. Clean off the dust with a damp rag.
Protect your work space from overspray by hanging a tarp. Fill your sprayer with exterior stain.
Apply thin, even coats of stain using the sprayer. Allow to dry before handling.
Add the hardware, hang, and enjoy your new garden gate!
