I wanted a topiary for my family room. And like most things in my house, since I couldn’t find what I wanted, I made it. It was so easy! I bought 2 styrofoam balls at the craft store. I also bought a package of dried moss. I went in the back yard to find a good stick then I pushed the styrofoam balls onto the stick. I used my handy dandy glue gun to glue the balls to the stick and to glue the moss onto the balls. I painted a cheap terra cotta pot. I had some left over cement in the garage from another project so I used that but you could also use plaster of paris from the craft store. Remember to use tape to cover the hole in the bottom of the pot so it doesn’t leak out. You will save a lot of money by making this. I didn’t know it at the time but since then I have seen them at decorating store and they are expensive!
And my empty frame? Don’t worry. I have plans for that! That will be another post.

I'd love to make a large topiary for my front door, outside, but the rain and humidity would kill it! I have tried real plants but again.. rain and humidity killed them too! (we in sofla get nasty downpours)
Love yours!

Awesome, Stacy! At this point one wonders why we'd even buy stuff if we can make it. :)

So pretty!
What a great project! Your topiary certainly doesn't look home made!
Thank you so much for the cement use in you Topiary, I am making a peppermint candy Topiary and it is so heavy. i thought about Cement, but was not sure how to use it correctly. After reading you website, which is very helpful and like you I have more on the Basement floor than in the clay pot.
Thank you
