I've had a life-long fascination with green woodwork. I don't know why, but it really appeals to me. I finally took the plunge and painted the woodwork in my dining room green, and it pleases me no end. Thus, I'm drawn to the green cabinets in this kitchen. A bright, refreshing change from all white. I also like the lighting and the accents. Really a fun, unusual, sophisticated kitchen. But, admittedly, hard to choose one project from this list--lots of great ideas here.

What a lovely array of projects to chose from; I am drawn to the shared boys room with it's ingenious design and fresh, clean feel. Something you hardly can use together in a sentence with a boys room: fresh and clean. However, the nostalgia of the green kitchen beckons me and takes me back in time to when I would spend hours following my Granny around her kitchen watching her cook and hoping for a few nibbles of homemade goodness. One look at this kitchen and I can once again imagine myself perched on Grannny's bench, sipping tea with milk, swinging my legs that at the time couldn't reach the floor. Ah, the fond memories.

Kristi didn't just paint kitchen cabinets. Nope! She removed the old, installed the new. That girl pulled up the old floor and laid down a new one. She knocked out walls, added tiles. That was a remodel from top to bottom. I love the concrete countertops! #AddictedtoDecorating

      Kristi from Addicted 2 Decorating!
You should have seen what she started with - Nothing at all like this. Kristi di everything herself! Including tear outs and installation, ceiling to floor. One of the things I love about Kristi is that she's not shy about telling us about mistakes, so we can learn along with her. She is an inspiration. And if you like her kitchen you should see the rest of her work! And just a word for those who may not share Kristi's taste, if you follow Kristi, you just have to admire her dedication and resourcefulness. <3

I love Kristi's green kitchen makeover and followed this work through its transformation. She did about 95% of this reno herself, including electrics, pouring concrete bench tops, taking plain cabinets and transforming them into those glam, bold ones you see now. I'd encourage anyone to go to her site and actually look through the progress of that reno, as it was gob-smackingly fabulous. Good luck Kristi!

There are some really awesome projects here!!! But I will admit, I've followed Kristi's green kitchen makeover (that name doesn't do it justice :) ) from the beginning and she is one spunky, determined woman. From concept to finish she has soldiered on inspite of setbacks, disappointments and challenges. I admire her for her ability to take on whatever it will take to see a project through, learning new skills, even when it changes midway! I know that one person's vision isn't always obvious to someone else but that's life....her kitchen wouldn't work for me, there are things about it that I love more than others, but she loves it and she's my hero for doing it! She has my utmost respect and I'm pleased to be able to support her with my vote!

When Kristi tore out her kitchen ceiling to find all the slipshod workmanship, and all of that contaminated insulation that fell into her kitchen, I shivered until I shrank. While she hired someone to straighten out the bad heating ductwork, she did the rest herself. Drywalling a ceiling must be very hard, but she didn't hesitate. And all those recessed lighting and decorative lighting that turned her "cave" into an elegant room is wonderful. She learned how to install electrical wiring, etc. in order to complete this project. She moved every single thing in the old kitchen layout. And with only her brother to help her, she installed a huge support beam where she took down a load bearing wall. And she installed new oak flooring to match the old oak floors in the rest of her house (which she refinished single-handedly, by the way). She painted the new floor, repainted the new floor, and finally stripped it down and refinished it to match her other rooms. This girl takes you for one wild ride on her blog! Be sure to check it out.

If you don't follow "Addicted 2 Decorating" (#6 Green Kitchen Makeover), please go to her blog site to see what she started with. She did this ALL BY HERSELF (except some help from brother with Electrical and lifting a header), tearing down to studs, redesigning layout and doorways, and every other little iota of construction. She is a one woman whiz! And just look at the gorgeous result. All the projects are wonderful; I'm just amazed by Superwoman!

im voting for Kirsti's Green Kitchen. The reason is for dedication to her plans and the exucutation of her workman ship. I live in Australia and have followed her projects with much admiration for a small woman who manages jobs that grown Men would walk away from. The style and colour is very elegant and beautifully excuted. So I wish her all the best for a good win.

I'm not sure if everyone knows... but the green kitchen is a creation of a 5' 2" gal who installed her own cabinets, added the gold leaf, made her own concrete counter tops, tiled her walls, installed her own wood floor, and that is just for starters. This project was a total makeover and she did almost the whole thing... all. by. herself.

There are so many great features here... but nothing compares to Kristi's green kitchen.. it's extraordinary!! (And I'm not even a fan of green.)

As so many others I followed Kristi from beginning to end of her kitchen make over. She is one awesome lady. If she does something wrong she'll tell you about it and show you how she fixed it. She took shock cabinets and turned them into the beautiful cabinets you now see. She is had opened the eyes of many women to see they can do the project them selves. When I clicked on the link for #1 (the shared boys' room makeover), it routed me to a 404 error code on this website. So I did a little research, and here is the correct link. http://viewfromthefridge.com/shared-boys-room-makeover-orc-reveal/ This is a really do-able makeover for even an all-thumbs diy-er like me, and does not involve a huge amount of carpentry. While I am impressed (favorably, I might add) with the other candidates, some of them require such skills that I could only admire, I couldn't DO.
