I think you did an amazing job on the counter top and I'm going to try it out on the plywood I have for my kitchen. I have antique cabinets that were a score but are deeper than today's stadard countertops. I don't want to make laminate on my own and I can't afford stone. Thanks for the idea!

I love your barnwood projects!! I have a pile of it that I salvaged from a barn raizing, and the planks have been laying on and covered by a tarp for 3 years. I'd LOVE to make a kitchen island with it but have been so hesitant to use it, or bring any critters into my house. So I loved your how to clean barnwood post. One important question: I've been told hat to use it as furniture, since it sat outside for decades, it has to be kiln dried to prevent it from cracking as it adjusts to the controlled air in my home. Did you kiln dry yours, and if so, how does one find a wood drying company--and how much can we expect to pay for this? If you didn't kiln dry it, has any of your barnwood furniture or shelves cracked? Thanks so much!

Ratz- I was too late for a steam machine.
Must admit my admiration for your detailed descriptions for undergoing such a huge task. I will have to try in "baby steps ", as I am also beginning a minimalist journey.

But has anything NOT worked out how you’d hoped ? Honestly, if you’ve spent a lot of time and energy on the project and at the end your’re a bit disappointed do you still use it ?

How do I clean or refresh 2 half walls of already placed barn boards? They have been in place for about 20 years and need to cleaned up somehow. Any ideas would be helpful!

Enjoyed your blog. First time I've ever signed up on one! I'm going to try to make a stump side table after seeing your planter. Great ideas. The mason jar planter was sweet also.
