Usually I start these out by saying how I can't believe it has been a month and it is already time for another Styled X3 post, but not this time. Maybe it was school starting and us having to get use to the new schedule, but this past month has seemed to go at a snail's pace. But I am still excited to share another post in this series because we have some fun blogger's joining us this month!
For those of you who may not know, this Styled X3 series is a way for me to introduce you to new bloggers and a fun way to show one item being styled in three different ways. I pick one item, buy three of them, and send two of them to two different bloggers. The three of us are challenged with using the item somewhere in our homes. Altering the item is acceptable but not required.
This month we have Nikkala from The Crafting Chicks and Corey from Sawdust 2 Stitches joining the fun and you will love them! Their sites are FULL of amazing projects.
This month I chose these blue agate bookends.

I decided to paint the outside part of the agates so I taped off the part I didn't want to get painted. I couldn't make up my mind on whether I should do gold or silver so I did one of each for now. Maybe you can help me decide on a final choice.
I wanted to add more color to my kitchen shelves so I grabbed my recipe books out of the cabinet and put them on display.
I liked the way they looked BUT you couldn't see the metallic paint at all.
I moved them into my family on top of our white cabinet that holds blankets and movies. You can see the painted backs much better.
Here is the silver.
And here is the gold.
I am leaning towards the gold paint myself. What do you think?
So are they best in the kitchen? Or the family room? Or should I add them to my office shelves? I love that they would easily fit into any room of my house. My rock loving boys want them for their room so depending on how persuasive they are, they may even end up in there :)
Head over to Nikkala's blog and Corey's blog to see how they used these bookends in their home!

I like the gold!
Those bookends are beautiful. They add that perfect little pop of color and eclecticness (guess that's not a word) on the shelf.
Thank you so much for sharing at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. :)
What a creative bookends I found here in your post. I love reading books and I have collected tons of it. I would love to have the same kind of bookends and hopefully, I can get one for myself. I am willing to make one for a diy project. I would love it.
