Storage Ideas for Small Kitchens + Giveaway!

    By Stacy 64 Comments

I am working on finishing up my kitchen right now. The main reason I repainted it white was because I was trying hard to think of ways to make it feel bigger. It is so tiny! Taking down some of the upper cabinets, replacing them with open shelving, and painting it a bright white have really helped. But the cold hard truth is that it is SMALL. Storage will always be an issue. So when Kirklands asked me to be apart of their #SmallSpaceDesign campaign, I knew I wanted in :) Keep reading for the GIVEAWAY!

storage ideas for small kitchens spaces

I bought this small 4 drawer dresser and while I am still debating about where it will find it's final resting place (I have narrowed it down to three options), I wanted to show you some ways to use it in a kitchen area. Dressers are not just for the bedroom! And this one is just the right size for a small space!

Use a small dresser for kitchen drawers

Right now our kitchen has three drawers total. In the past Shane and I have lived in apartments without any drawers at all. So if you are lacking, why not use a dresser for silverware and other items! I stuck mine in the corner, but you could set it next to your kitchen cabinets as well.

small drawers in kitchen for more storage

Another tip when dealing with a small space it to go vertical! I say it all the time and can't stress it enough. Take advantage of the walls in your home. Add shelves, hang things from the ceiling, do whatever you need to do to get clutter off the floor and counters.

Use the corners! I built these corner shelves because it seemed like wasted space that could be put to good use.

Have you ever come home and from being gone and about passed out from some mystery smell? At our house it is almost always rotten potatoes! The problem is that we don't currently have a place for them. The bags of taters get put in random cupboards and sometimes forgotten. This is where the next idea came from.

    use a dresser for pantry_edited-1

I remember our neighbors had a potato bin in their pantry. It was a tall wood box with a lid. This dresser would allow you to store more than just potatoes. Use it for a vegetable bin!

Another tip I use is I try to limit how many small appliances I have. I get it, there are so many fun gadgets on the market. It is tempting to buy all the things :) I only have the basics and I get along just fine. If you keep your counters clear, it will make you space feel bigger. Say no to clutter!

Now we get to the fun part! Claire, Gina, Andrea and I get to giveaway a $200 Kirkland's gift card so you can get your small space organized!

I received compensation for the #SmallSpaceDesign blog post. Kirkland’s partnered with several bloggers like me to raise brand awareness. All purchases and content are on my own accord and reflect my personal opinion and style.
