    October Linky Party

    By Stacy 15 Comments

Oh my word! November! Aaaahhh! Is anyone else freaking out that 2014 is almost over? I keep seeing people counting down to Christmas on Facebook and I panic every time. Where did Fall go? Heck, where did Summer go?

I am at the halfway point with my book. It has been killing me to be working on SO MANY projects and not be able to share any of them with you. I feel like I will have done about a year's worth of projects ( AKA blog posts) in about 4 months. And no one sees them but my family. I can't wait to finally share :)

I do have one thing I can share. I decorated my porch several different ways for a Homes.com article. Hop on over and see my simple ideas of how to inexpensively decorate your porch for Fall.

And here are my other projects from this past month.

So since I can't really share all I am doing, I am excited that you will be able to share what YOU are doing.

    So let's do this!

    1. Dining Room Plate Wall - Meadow Lake Road says:
      November 4, 2014 at 8:12 am

[…] It all started with one pretty plate that I kept from my grandparents house after they passed away (the top left blue one in the image below). That one plate inspired me to start collecting vintage-style plates and a year later, I’ve finally collected enough to group them on our dining room wall. Other than my grandma’s plate and a few others given to us by family and friends, all of the plates were found at thrift stores and garage sales. Each plate cost me less than $4. Before I hung the plates, I painted the wall in Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter (lightened by 25%) because I knew it would be a real pain to have to take them all down to paint later. The plates were hung using these plate hangers in several different sizes. As for how I arranged them, I started in the very middle and hung one at a time and then stood back and eye-balled where the next one should go. I am way too impatient to measure or make paper templates to guide me in their placement. I only ended up having to pull a few nails out of the wall to shift the placement of a couple plates. I think it still needs a few more plates to look totally complete. I added a few gray circles to the wall in Photoshop to help me visualize how many more plates I need to collect. I’m thinking I need about 5 more. And in case you are wondering what this wall looked like before, here’s an image to show the before and after… In the before picture, you can kinda see that I started painting the wall before I snapped the ‘before’ photo (like I said, I’m impatient). Before the photo ledges always felt too small for the scale of the wall and the black color didn’t really go with the rest of our stuff. Now, the plates fill almost fill up the wall space and the colors flow much better. It was worth the wait.
