    "I Spy" Bags

    By Stacy Leave a Comment

A few years back I was given one of these as a gift. It was such a hit but I have more than one kid, so I decided to make some more. I do not sew well at all but this wasn't too bad. Because it is made out of fleece you don't have to worry about it fraying, or turn it inside out to sew it. I bought the clear plastic by the yard at a fabric store and the plastic beads that go inside as filler were in the pillow forms and batting area. They come in small bags and are meant for beanie type dolls or stuffed animals. They are cheap and so is the clear plastic (which you won't need much of).
I just collected a bunch of small things we already had. Then I bought a few things as well. Here is a list of some of the things I put in mine.

    *penny*marble*rubber band*bobby pin*pompom*foam shapes*button*feather*safety pin*erasers that were shaped as fruit, sports, animals etc*plastic bugs*plastic animals*buttons that were shaped as dinosaurs, trains, etc*shells*balloons*plastic jewels*barbie shoe*beads*jingle bell*noodle*pinto bean*rock*puzzle piece*plastic leaf from fake plant*paper clip*metal confetti in the shape of clover, hearts, Christmas tree, etc*string*Lego*small micro machine car*googly eye*popcorn kernel
These are great to stick in your purse or diaper bag. They have kept my kids (and the others around us) entertained at doctor's offices, church, stores, and the car. You can tell by the pictures that they have been well loved since the fabric is kind of worn. The bag that I got as a gift had a laminated list of everything in the bad attached to it by string. I opted not to do it since my babies would try to suck or chew on it and it would hurt their mouths. But it is nice to have a list if you are giving it as a gift so they know what to look for. Have fun coming up with things to put in it!
