I have been neck deep in messy projects in my basement with nothing pretty to show for it…yet. It has been so fun to take breaks and check in with the DIY contest. I loved seeing all the projects linked up, I loved hashing out the top 10 with the judges, and I loved seeing the votes pour in to determine the winner. In all the years I have held this contest, it has never been so close! All of the top 10 projects received a lot of votes and it was neck and neck up until the end. I agree that it was a tough choice. So much talent!
As a reminder, The Home Depot and Ryobi Power Tools have generously offered to sponsor this contest and the winner will receive a $500 gift card to The Home Depot and a $500 credit towards Ryobi Power Tools! That will get your DIYing off to a good start in 2018 :)
And now for the results…..
The winner of the Best DIY Contest is Shara from Woodshop Diaries!
Congratulations to not only Shara, but to all of you who entered. Thank you so much for being willing to share your ideas and talents with us all :)

This was a joke. You didn’t consider people without blogs. How do you choose a winner? There were far better projects.
If you don’t have a blog you could send Stacy an email with your entry, which I did and actually was lucky enough to be chosen into the top 11. I was happy to become a finalist because without a blog I knew that was as far as I could go. Most contests are for bloggers only, I appreciated the chance to get to show my work.
Bobbi your built in dresser blew my mind! It must have impressed many others since it got a TON of votes :) While sometimes bloggers have an advantage because of their social media following, you would be surprised to see how often it doesn’t really help their vote count. Last year’s winner was a lady without a blog. I am so happy you shared your project with us :) You are amazing!
Thank you Stacy, you made my day! Time to get back in my shop.
You were ALL amazing DIY entries and I am thrilled to see a winner who is humble and well deserving! I am sure this is a tough decision every year…hence the word “competition” but to the most votes goes the winner. Well done Stacy and team!
Keep up the fantastic ideas EVERYONE!!!
Yes! They were all incredible. It was so fun to see all the projects that were entered. Thanks for following along :)
So much talent on all the entries and the top ten! I was honored just to be in the top ten (eleven) but never in a million years thought my project would win. There were so many awesome entries! I am inspired by all the talent here and am humbled to be among them. ❤️
Shara you should be proud :) It was a clever project and was executed so well!
