On a scale of 1 to 10, my lawn and gardens would be a 5. I have lived in this old farmhouse for three years and continue to revive the existing gardens as well as add more.

My yard is, unfortunately, a 1. It needs a lot of work and the Texas sun and heat does not help!

our yard is pretty bad, probably a 7, though it is actually more the flower beds than grass. we desperately need to mulch but have had a few major home repairs in the past month (new a/c units $$$) so haven't had the extra cash to get the mulch we need. we would love to pull some bushes out but don't know what to replace them with because they help block our front door from the street. we would like to use native florida plants good for drought conditions since we always have those. but we don't know where to start.

I designed my yard years ago when our trees were twigs. Now they are huge shade trees and my gardens aren't doing so well without all the sun we used to have. On a scale of 1-10, my previous 8 is now a 5. I need some great new ideas!

Overall, I think our yard is an 8. My hubby does a great job keeping up with the grass and trees in the "front" yard. We have a little closed off area outside our kitchen and it's more like a 3. An old greenhouse is falling down and there are lots of yucky white landscaping rock that needs to be removed but we just haven't had time to start and finish!

I'd love to say that my backyard is a 10 but NO :( I try and do my best so I'll happily give it a 7. I'm always working on trying to make it look better and heartier.

Each summer I try to add a little more to my yard; it is always a work in progress. I think gardening is a bit like raising children. Sometimes you think some idea is going to be great, and it turns out to be a total flop. Then other times, you can be completely surprised by something fabulous that you never dreamed would come to fruition! I plant many perennials and every spring look forward to the little surprises.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm going with about a 7. Right now my shrubs need a good trimming and I think I really need to add more flowering plants. We have a lot of green but no real color in our yard.
