Adding some color to a very white wall

    By Stacy 7 Comments

After years of renting while my husband went to school, I swore that I wouldn't have white walls when I was able to buy a house and do what ever I wanted. I lied. A little. You can't see my big accent wall that is painted green. But the other three walls are white. BRIGHT white. And I love it. It is so relaxing and airy. So I had my accent wall, my bedding , my side table, and a shelf that were green. But I had one side of my room that was void of anything green. I still had paint left from my accent wall so I decided to paint a square with a band around it and then hang our monogram on it.
I bought a cheap white frame. I don't have a fancy cricket or silhouette machine and I was too impatient to order an "R" off line so I drew one on card stock paper and used an X-acto knife to cut it out. I used double sided tape to adhere it to the glass. One day I might change it for the real deal, but you can't tell the difference and I like it.
Oh how I love the power paint has to transform a space! Here are the other pictures of my room.

This side table (an old cupboard)  got painted and antiqued.

These frames all got painted white. And this is part of my green wall :)

    I painted this pillow.

I painted the shadow box above my bed.

And I spray painted this antique bridge lamp to change it from cream to white.

Very relaxing. My room is all green. And little brighter than that. Like turtle shell green. Or that's what the paint chip calls it. Very bright! I love the paisley pillow. Did you use a stencil? I would love to know what brand, if you did. I love paisley! Our sheets have paisleys on them and I have been looking for accent pillows like the one you painted.

Your letter R looks great. What would we do without paint in our decorating tool box???? I love everything you showed in this post.

Stacy, this is Beautiful. I like the airy feel of the room too. I also never thought about having anything white, in my home, and don't, I think my mom ruined it for me, with her white walls, my whole life. But every time I see rooms like this, I start to rethink myself. Everything just pops, when the walls are white. So interchangeable. Your green is soooo soothing too, great choice. Your sidetable is great, and I love that pillow. Tutorial??? THANK you for linking up to **Amaze me AUgust** you know I appreciate it. Glad to see you back :) Bella

I love love love your bedroom. It looks so calming to me. I love white walls but unfortunately my DH doesn't. I wanted to paint the bedroom walls white. Since it is a really small space I figured it would open it up, but he said white is too bright for a bedroom. Now I can show him your pics and show him how calm and comforting it can really be.

Thanks so much for posting pics. I am off to stencil some ceilings -- what an awesome idea...it looks fantastic!!
