I was invited by Jen from House of Wood to join her mantel blog hop. I have loved seeing all of the other blogger's mantels so far.
I think I am the last blogger to decorate for Christmas. I don't know why I drag my feet every year because I really do love Christmas. It is probably because I am always neck deep in other projects and I keep thinking "when this next project is done I will decorate..." But there is always another project :)
This is the first time decorating my mantel for Christmas since I gave it a mini makeover. I am loving the barn wood top I added with all the greenery!
This was my first time trying the tracing chalkboard trick. Normally I free hand things but I doubted my ability to draw the perfect deer.
I use this chalkboard to cover up our TV when it is not in use. I needed something light weight and easy to pop up and down. I spray painted a foam core board with chalkboard paint. It is perfect!
Now I just need to tackle decorating the rest of the house.....
Don't forget to check out the other bloggers!

I love your mantel! It is just my style. I was wondering if those little trees are real. If not, where did you find them?

The are artificial and I got them at IKEA. They are the most realistic little tees I've seen!

What the frame? Is it mounted to the wall around the TV ? Did you draw it on the foam board? If I can get that part figured out, Im going to do my hide the tv trick.
Thanks
Stacy
Hi Marcia!
I made a shadow box like I did here (without the back): http://www.notjustahousewife.net/2010/09/shadow-box-shelf-tutorial.html
I cut a couple of holes so the TV could "breath".
Then I slipped it over the TV and hung it on the wall using L brackets.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
