It’s back to school time! I recently updated our command center with new job charts, added an updated version of our family motto, and the homework cubbies are starting to filling up. Since I am done painting my office, I needed to hang up new hooks so the kids had a place to hang their backpacks. I was so tired of tripping over them, taking them off the kitchen table, and even finding them in the backyard.
The theme for my Better Homes and Gardens (BHG at Walmart) post this month was “Personalizing Your Space”. I had a million ideas but since I was already fixing up this room, I decided to focus on this wall in my office.
I LOVE framing my kids’ art. First of all, it is FREE art for your walls! Perfect. Second of all, nothing makes your kids feel like a million bucks like seeing their pictures framed and hung like the special art pieces that they are. It is such a boost to their self esteem! It also adds great color to a space.
I wanted the art itself to really stand out so I decided to use these simple white frames. I have used them before and I love them. They are a part of the Better Homes and Gardens collection at Walmart.
Another way that I personalized this space for my kids was in the knobs that I used. I used to have very traditional hooks that you could buy at any store. I was pondering what to replace them with and I remembered that I had made these rock hooks for my book, Natural Accents. I had planned on using them in my kids’ bedroom but didn’t really have a good spot. This, I realized, was a better place!
I did this while the kids were at school and it was fun to see their reaction when they came home.
Do you decorate with your children’s art? What are other ways that you personalize your space?
