I love finding out about new companies that have products that fit my style. I love having things in my home that I know not every single person has. So when I was contacted by Uncommon Goods, I was happy to share their stuff with YOU :) I got a little something new from there……
I limit the amount of time my kids watch TV. I grew up playing outside 90% of the time and had the best childhood! If a child is dirty child, it means they had a successful day. I also spent (and still do) a lot of time reading. So I decided that this summer I was going to write quotes about reading on the chalkboard insert that I put over the TV when not in use. It will help us all remember to still do their reading time every day even though it is summer break.
Ahhhh! Did you notice what was new? The BOOKENDS. Aren’t they gorgeous? I have been buying vintage books for awhile knowing that I wanted to do a rainbow arrangement somewhere. This seemed like the perfect place to use them. And thanks to a couple of my children books from growing up, I had all the colors I needed.
Walnut with a vintage light. It is like they KNOW me.
So I knew I liked their stuff. But then I started to do a little research for the post and I kinda puffy heart love them now. Not only do they provide a platform for artists and designers to sell their items, but they are very big into giving back. They have several charities AND $1 from your purchase is donated to the charity of your choice. In the last 12 years they have donated over $700,000 with that program! Of all the items sold on their site, 50% is handmade! And 1/3 is made from recycled or upcycled materials. They are unique, charitable, support handmade, and environmentally conscious. Not too shabby.
I wanted to highlight some of my favorite things from their site.
Just like I got myself the bookends, here are some ideas for splurging on yourself! We make pizza all the time at our house and I know my boys would think this pizza stone was super cool. And that teak serving platter? STUNNING. I am kind of dying right now. And at $20 the bud vase is a pretty awesome deal.
For The Home
My favorite section on their site is the home decor. They have so many fun things for the home. The phone charger? You had me at driftwood…. The bubble glass and wire light is perfectly vintage inspired. I just need to find a place for it :) The rug is handmade from saris! You need to go check it out on the site so you can see it up close. Absolutely beautiful!
Are you looking for the PERFECT gift? How about you personalize it? I loved all these fun ideas! A mix tape pillow? How rad is that? And the faux bois vase is just precious. And much better for the environment that actually carving your initials in a tree ;) The birch cuff is so chic. I love chunky jewelry.
