We had planned on spending the whole day on Saturday alone and bumming around town for our anniversary. Somehow my husband was under the impression that we were going out to dinner the night of our anniversary PLUS bumming on Saturday. It wasn’t possible to do both and I could tell he was disappointed. He left for work and I had the idea of surprising him with a candlelit dinner.
We only have one vehicle so I didn’t have the luxury of running to town for thing to decorate with. I picked some white tulips from my yard and gathered every white candle I could find. I didn’t get a good shot of the other side of the room but there was another shelf with candles and a stool with candles. I also had them all over the kitchen. I wanted to hang black and white photos of us from the ceiling but I couldn’t find my stash. It would have been a fun touch, but oh well.
I had my boys dress up in their church clothes. One acted as the greeter and was in charge of the music. And the other two were our waiters.
I made creamy chicken enchiladas. That was the first thing that my husband ever made for me when we were “just friends”.
I had “our” song playing while we ate. It was so nice! I think the best part was that is was unexpected.
He brought me home flowers. We must be on the same wave length because they matched the decor perfectly :)
