Citrus Hot Drink

Do you have certain recipes that you only make at certain times of the year? Are there certain foods that remind you of your childhood? My mom used to make this hot drink for us in the winter. She found the recipe and started using it for when we had a sore throat or our […]

Gingerbread Houses and a Family Update

I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas break. Of course I love that my kids are home from school but because it is winter time (and cold and snowy) the kids have limited time they can spend outside and therefore they get pent up energy. A week in and they all want to pummel  each other […]

Homemade Graham Crackers for S’mores {Giveaway}

The theme for my Better Homes and Gardens post this month was Holiday Entertainment. Having a small house means that any “entertaining” we do is usually outside. BBQ’s, outdoor movies, and roasting marshmallows are the usual. This past weekend we had some of our family over for dinner and s’mores. We will be spending Thanksgiving with […]

Easy Crème Brûlée

Crème Brûlée is probably my all time favorite dessert. In fact, when we first moved here to Utah, Shane’s first firm he worked for would have their company Christmas party at Deer Valley Ski Resort every year. We would have a private dining room with tables full of the best food. I would head straight […]

Grilled Kabobs

Confession…. I felt off the healthy wagon while in New Orleans. Shane and I went there for a service project with Home Depot (more on that later!) and we did a pretty good job for the first two meals but them when we ate out for dinner all four nights. We wanted to experience the […]

Lemonade Drink Table

I started to think it wouldn’t happen, and let’s be honest, we’re still not in the clear. It is Utah afterall. But the snow is gone and the grass has started to green up. It is time to pull out the grill and invite some friends over! Warmer weather is screams backyard party! I was […]

Zucchini Noodles with Pesto

You can tell by my pasty skin that I am Irish. But in my pasta lovin’, hot headed, heart I am Italian. There’s got to be Italians somewhere in my family tree, I just know it. I also love carbs. So when I first heard about this contraption that makes zucchini, squash, and veggies into […]

5 Tips to Help You Drink More Water

One of the things I have struggled with forever is drinking enough water. Water is the only thing I drink really so you would think it would be easy, but it’s not. I forget to drink throughout the day and then I am super thirsty at night. I need to not only drink more, but […]

Broccoli Chicken Dijon

We have been experimenting with new healthy recipes and we have found another favorite! This broccoli chicken dijon is also super easy to prepare.     In order for a recipe to be considered a success, we not only have to love the flavor, but it needs to fill us up. Maybe not the “gorge […]

Spicy Garlic Lime Shrimp & Pasta

I’m not sure about you, but when I am in one of my “I’m going to eat healthier” kicks, the main reason I stop being really good about it is that I run out of healthy dinner options. The five healthy “got to” dinners get old real quick. But I am determined to stay on […]

Healthy Treats and Desserts

When you think of Valentine’s Day you may think of red, pink, or hearts. I think of chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate. Since Shane and I are making a big effort to make better choices when it comes to eating, I thought it would be a good idea to gather a bunch of ideas for snacks […]

Swedish Raspberry Kiss Cookies

Growing up we had some awesome neighbors that we loved to hang out with. Their mom was from Sweden and aside from having the prettiest accent ever, she shared with us some of the yummiest recipes. These cookies were one of my all time favorite growing up. And since I recently picked raspberries out back and made […]

Almond Joy Mousse & Strawberry Mousse

I first tried coconut milk cream when I was challenged by a friend to eat paleo for a month. It was hard and I missed cheese terribly! But I did like some of the things that went along with the diet. I have tried to limit the amount of animal based fats and to eat […]

Simple Cream of Broccoli Soup

Just like the Chicken Pot Pie I recently posted, this is a recipe that I first made in college. I got something in the mail with recipes printed on it and decided to give them a try. One was for Cream of Broccoli Soup. I have modified it over the years to fit my taste and to simplify it. It is a family favorite even if my husband doesn’t consider soup a “real meal”.

{Deep Dish} Chicken Pot Pie

This is hands down my kids’ favorite dinner that I make. When asked to fill out a “get to know you” form at school each year, for favorite food they ALWAYS put “chicken pot pie” or “my mom’s chicken pot pie”. And every time it is on of their birthdays, they pick chicken pot pie for their birthday dinner.

Now I like it and all, but I do not quite understand their obsession with it. But I humor them and make it a lot. I made it the other night when it was the first day of school. That is pretty momentous and called for their favorite dish.
