DIY date basket 1024x674 WIN the ULTIMATE Valentines Day Basket + Blog Hop

I think when it comes to dating your spouse or significant other, it is important to not just plan things that YOU love to do but to think of things that they like as well. For every sci-fi movie my husband and I see, we see a chick flick to even it out.

In my case, a DIY project is something I like more than my hubby, but a lot of you it might be the other thing around.

Also, if you are like me, you may have a hard time finding sitters all the time. A date night at home is perfect for when you can’t go out. And if you are home, why not get something productive done and have fun while you are at it!

I have included:

* 2 custom shirts (one for you and one for your hubby) to wear while you are getting your DIY on. I made them and they say “The couple that DIYs together stays together”.

* Treats (including my all time fave Mint Truffle bars)! The tool shaped chocolates are the cutest :)

* The Ellen dance music CD so you can rock out while working

* A $100 Home Depot gift card to use to buy the supplies for your project

So think of a fun project, put the kids or fur babies to bed, and get going on completing it together :)

I want to replace the homemade counter tops that are starting to crumble in my 80 year old kitchen. The homemade cabinetry is still in good shape but the counter tops are terrible. We want to make homemade butcher block counter tops to keep the feel of this original farm house.

    • Christi says

Love this gift basket idea! My husband and I just bought our first house so we would paint and decorate our baby girls nursery!

  1. says

I would love to work on some flower boxes for our porch…OR to finish the hanging “welcome” sign that is half made sitting in our garage. Oh the possibilities!

    • says

I can’t seem to get my own comment thread to work, so I thought I’d reply to yours. We want to make some flower boxes, too! Our front windows are big, boring rectangles, and every year we say we’re going to spruce them up. This might be our chance!

  2. Jackie says

Love it! We could paint the kitchen and then enjoy a lovely meal together in our new room. Thanks for the great giveaway.

  3. grammygoodwill says

What a great giveaway. Those shirts are too cute. We really could use the Lowes card as hubby is working in our garage. Thanks for the chance to win.

  4. DebbieK says

Love your theme and shirts! We’re nearly finished building our own house but there are always plenty of more projects to do! Kitchen countertop is next on the list.

  5. Karen says

I’m not sure what we’d work on together! We live in an apartment, so we’re somewhat limited. If I had my way, we’d rehab a dresser for me. I’m sick of my boring faux wood one that I’ve had since I was young. I’m not sure that my husband would find that very exciting, though! haha

  6. Cheryl says

My hubby and I love DIY’s around our house. We’ve done a few things already (shelving in our living room for dvd storage and a 3 tier cat shelving unit for our furry children). Next we want to build a dining room table because we love to entertain and our current table only fits 4 comfortably. My husband already has the plans laid out for it and this would be the perfect Valentine’s gift to jump start our new table!

  7. Krista says

We would work on building our daughters bedroom. We are planning on expanding the computer room and turning that into Charlottes room… just need a little bit more money to finish the project.

  8. Nicole says

We’re in the middle of finishing our second bathroom on our own – the gift card would be a huge help! And the CD would help keep it fun :)

  9. Leisa H says

We moved into this house over a year ago, and are STILL saying we are going to paint and redo the kitchen, so that would be a start!

  10. Wendy says

We would work on the inside of the house for sure! Have been wanting to paint a few rooms and rip out some carpet. Would love to win this basket of goodies!

  11. Jeffrey says

I’d start with a massage for my wife, then I would fix the kitchen sink she has been reminding me about for a few weeks!

  12. crystal moyer says

I have been wanting to make a lego table for my son out of our old pub table i c ouldnt do it without my husbnads help and This would be perfect to get it done together!

  13. Carrie says

What a fun gift! I think we’d work on the kitchen cabinets.. one of our ‘DIY’ goals is to redo the kitchen to update it! :)

  14. Elizabeth Pacyk says

You are too cute!! Since lately all our quality time is spent on projects around the house, we should totally turn it into a date night!

  15. Wendy Rupper says

Cute Ideas! If I won I’d help paint the bookshelves my husband is building in his shop right now. Thanks for the chance to win!

  16. Carrie says

We would build a new dining room table and benches. This would be a great date for the two of us! Thanks for such an awesome basket!!

  17. Lisa Beech says

I would totally work on our staircase. We need to scrub the old wallpaper glue off the walls and then patch and prime the wall for this gorgeous denim blue paint. Then to remove the old nasty cornflower blue carpet and varnish the wood stairs. At last a place for our family photos and pictures.

  18. Jennifer Munoz says

We would so be installing a new doggie door! Our newest family member (a mutt we saved) has chewed the old one to pieces!

  19. says

The last project the hubby and I did together was laying laminate flooring in our master bedroom. He even taught me to use his miter saw. :) Next up would be tiling our entry!

  20. Cath T says

Our first project would probably be to eat all the goodies. Then we’d need a super simple project, as DH’s skill level and commitment to DIY is a bit lacking. I’m thinking working on our new-found attic storage space. Cute shirts!

  21. Whitney says

We’ve been meaning to build a spice rack that will slide between our kitchen work table and the counter. This would be a perfect project! :)

  22. Jalynne says

This would be great! About to start a project on our home adding a bonus room, and the gift card always helps! I’m also a huge fan of DIY projects. Great giveaway!!

  23. Holly says

This basket has my husband’s name all over it! He does wood working and custom cabinets as a hobby. Currently we’re remodeling our master bathroom together.

  24. says

LOVE the shirts!!! I think hubby and I need those for all of our projects. ;)
We desperately need to make a ‘launch pad’ in our mudroom that’s fun and useful. Would LOVE to put this great basket to use on that project!

  25. Catherine in MI says

My husband tore the closets out of my craft area ( sounds crazy, but they were SO gross!), so we’d spend the time patching, painting, and flooring that area.

Thanks for the chance! Love this creative basket (and my hubby would, too!)

  26. Koren Klein says

That is the perfect Val Day basket for my husband and I! I especially love the shirts, perfect, just perfect! I do hope the Rafflecopter chooses me. But just in case… I’ll run over to the other bloggers and check their’s out too

I just found your blog from the VDay Blog Hop. I’M SO GLAD I DID!! We LOVE to DIY our rental and I’m so excited to try some things out. Thank you!! :D

  30. Dawn H says

I’m not sure which project to start with: paint 2 walls in the living room, create a large indoor herb garden, hang barn wood on one bathroom wall. We have plenty of projects to work on. :)

  31. Lisa Cox says

This would be perfect!!! My husband needs some shelves to store his DJ/drum stuff, instead of it taking up all the floor space. I think that would make a perfect V day gift for him and me!

  32. brook nichols says

The Hubs is making our garage his “man cave” there is always something to do out there! He wants to stain the floors now

  38. Becca Hill says

We are planning on redoing the kitchen floor which is currently laminate, carpet and kitchen carpet from the late 1970′s. It’s awful. The laminate is newer (8 years or so), but we want the whole floor to be all the same and not pieced.

  39. Jessica Havican says

  41. Karen says

My husband and I are trying to move to a new house, so I don’t know what project we would work on together because I don’t know what our house is going to need.

  42. says

We just finished painting our living room and we wanted to build a bookshelf on one of the walls. We love DIY projects. They’re fun and it adds a touch of you in the home.

  43. Kris says

a headboard for our bed – saw an idea on pinterest and have been waiting for time to get it done! Your basket would be the perfect “excuse” for my husband to help!

  46. says

My husband and I are both graduate students (aka the cash flow isn’t overflowing in our house). So, we absolutely love to DIY together, hence this precious gift basket would be perfect! We were given a hand-me-down dining room table before we got married and it is now literally falling apart. Since we both enjoy cooking and eating meals together, this is a major problem! We have been wanting to build a new table together, but have lacked the extra money to do so. So, building that table would be the first thing we would do if we were blessed with this sweet gift.

  181. Brandi says

We moved into our first house 7 months ago, so there are a lot of DIY that we would like to do. I would love to stain our concrete porch in back, build an outdoor fireplace and minigolf course. Although, I’m sure replacing a couple of windows will happen first :)
