***THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED***
THE WINNER IS STEPHANIE LOWELL!!! Please email me with your info so I can make sure the prize gets sent to you :) Congrats!!!
Once upon a time there was a closet. It was one of three closets in the entire house. And this closet was trying desperately to function as storage for miscellaneous items, DIY supplies, tools, paint, and canning items. It was a hot mess…….
Believe it or not this is an huge improvement on what it looked like before. I took some things to the garage and bought a ton of plastic containers to organize all of my “stuff”.
Here is an instagram of me back in November trying to get it under control.
Everything is categorized and in their own neat little containers, but it is not functioning well at all. And as often as I work on projects, I need it to. I need everything to not only fit, but be accessible. Mainly the things I use on an almost daily basis need to be “boom!” right there.
First order of business is to empty the bad boy out!
Since I am going to all the trouble of re-organizing it I decided that it needed a new paint job as well. It has been bland and beige long enough!
P&G contacted me and gave me some painting tips. There was one that had me thinking “Why in the world did I not think of that before?” The tip was to wash the ceiling and walls with a Swiffer Sweeper. DUH! And here I have been on a step ladder scrubbing with a soapy rag! Arms aching, 3 dirty bowls of water, and up to an hour of scrubbing. Seriously. I am so embarrassed that I did not think of this myself. Especially because I have owned a Swiffer Sweeper (and used it almost daily) for YEARS!
So I got to work (if you can really call it that) and cleaned the whole closet. Walls, shelves, and ceiling were all done in less than 10 minutes.
Here is a sneak peek at the color the closet will be :)
Another one of their tips was one I had already done in the past (which made me feel a lot better about myself!). I use the magic eraser to get rid of scuff marks on the walls and trim. My baseboards seem to get them the most. I {heart} magic erasers so.dang.much! They are, well, MAGIC! They have saved my bacon more than once. I could write a love sonnet about that little white square of awesomeness.
So if you have a painting project coming up, then I have a giveaway for you!
A Swiffer Sweeper starter kit and magic eraser to help you prep, and a $50 Home Depot gift card to buy the paint and painting supplies!
This giveaway is open to US and Canadian residents only. You must be 18 years or older to enter. This giveaway goes from March 15th until March 20th. The winner will be chosen randomly and announced on March 21st. If the winner does not contact me within 48 hours a new winner will have to be chosen.
A huge thanks to P&G for sponsoring this giveaway and if you need any more tips on painting you can go to this Home Depot link for all sorts of awesome info :)
*This is a sponsored post on behalf of P&G and Home Depot however the thoughts expressed are all mine. I truly adore these products. I have bought and used them for many years.*

Love the color!!! I have so many different projects and lists going right now!
My next project is painting my bar. Its a boring shade of beige. I want to paint it to look funky!
I want to repaint all the woodwork in my house!
Spring cleaning time!!
Awesome. I’ve got an entry way I need to tackle!
Lots of spring cleaning ahead! Love the color choice…
I am really wanting to do a bedroom closet makeover! Cubbies, rods, shelves, shoe bins. The works! This makes me so excited about the possiblities! Thanks Stacy for the inspiration!
I have three closets on my to do list ! This would be great :)
I need to paint my daughter’s bathroom.
We need to paint our stairwell headed to the basement. It’s painted 3 different shades of white, courtesy of the previous homeowners. It drives me nuts. I’m planning to paint it a nice cheerful yellow color (the same shade as my kitchen). As a side note, when we moved in, our entire house was painted in a shade of white (I’m blanking on it’s name right now) because it was the husband’s favorite color. We’ve since painted the kitchen, dining room, living room, stairs between 1st & 2nd floors, bathroom and 2 of 3 bedrooms.
My next painting project is going to be my son’s room! He is going to be 5 in April and still sleeps in a yellow nursery themed room!
The stairwell is next up… although I’m dying to do the kitchen cabinets too ~ so both by the end of summer!
I could so use this. My next project to tackle is my living room.
I want to pain my son’s old room. I am transforming it into my new craft room.
I am hoping this spring to paint the entire upper level and basement of my house. We did the main level after we moved in last fall, and this warm weather has me all inspired to get decorating — but not on builder beige walls! Love these tips to help me save on prep time because I’ve got a lot of painting on my list!
I just want to paint my doors! Thanks for the giveaway. I am so ready for spring cleaning.
Love magic erasers. Will have to try the swiffer trick whether I win or not.
I’d start with some simple home decor signs.
My next painting project is my laundry room!! It is small @: 5.25′ by 10.6 feet. It doubles for my pantry, mud room; you name it!! I need it to get organized so I can utilize it best!!!
My master bedroom and bath! This giveaway would be super to win!
Thanks
My whole downstairs needs to be painted!
I actually just emailed my friend this morning asking for help painting my bathroom. :) I paid to have it painted this summer, but the gray I wanted turned out blue, and I’m too cheap not to DIY it the second time around! Thanks for the giveaway. :)
I will tackle the Laundry room!!
I am repainting the whole house, every room, in prep for selling the house so this would be awesome to win!
I’d like to paint our bathrooms.
My next painting project will be my back patio!
My whole house needs to be painted. Some rooms haven’t been painted since we bought our house almost 8 years ago, and some of them were painted 5 years ago…but I have to hold off until we decide what we’re doing with renovating or moving.
My bedroom!! I’ve had paint swatches painted on for uhm….well, way too long and Hubs is getting annoyed at it. :)
I truly need this to get me started on my list of projects.
The next paint project I’ll be tackling isn’t one I chose, necessarily, but one I need to do: we’ll be moving out of our rental house later this year, and I need to cover up the huge blue spot I made on the kitchen wall when a jar I was painting fell off the table and splattered everywhere! I also need to paint over the wood filler I used to fill in the chew marks my dog left in the bathroom when he was a puppy.
Such a great giveaway! I’ve been feeling the need to do some spring cleaning and painting, so this would be perfect!
we’re buying a house so lots of painting to come :) i dont even know where i will start!! thanks for the giveaway :)
Our whole house needs painting…so this would make for a great start! Thank you!
I plan to paint the wall my fireplace is on!
We’re in process of buying a home so painting the whole house is my next project!
I will soon be painting an entire house, so cleaning the walls with a Swiffer Sweeper is GENIUS. Did you soak the pad before you started?
Next on my painting list is our playroom’s closet. I’m just looking for inspiration & motivation!
Redo my bedroom.
I want to paint our dining room. Just have to decide on a color – the hardest part! :-)
I want to paint our office/studio next! I never got around to painting it when we moved it and it needs some love!
Sun-room & our daughter’s reading nook!
my kitchen. 100 percent. It was a horrible colour when we moved in. Same now. lol.
Awesome. Our entry way needs to be finished up!
I’m working on prepping my bedroom for a paint job right now.
I have been wanting to tackle the kids playroom.
I am really want to redo my bedroom. I’m thinking a pale mint color!
What a great cleaning tip! I would have never thought of that. Thanks for the chance to win some great prizes!
Oops! Forgot to say that my next painting project will be either the master bedroom or finishing up the trim/closet doors in my daughters’ room.
Man, do I have a closet that needs help! Great tip using the swifter mop! I always dread washing walls.
kitchen and family room will get painted next
We just repainted my daughter’s room and I used the handheld swiffer to wipe it down. Next is the guest room (her old room, she moved to my son’s room when he moved out). It’s going to be very similar to the aqua surrounding your closet.
I want to pain a mirror’s edges and the legs of my couch to make it look better.
I have been wanting to make some custom art work
I plan to paint my kitchen – it needs to be a brighter lighter color.
What doesn’t need to be painted in my house!
We’re in the process of buying a new home so the whole house will be a painting project!!!
What a terrific giveaway! My next project is the ktichen.
My next project is upcycling an french provincial dresser into our entertainment console…….I will be painting and would love this HD giftcard.
*kitchen* – oops!
I haven’t done a thing since moving in – plain white walls everywhere. I want to add some color and think I will start with my bath.
Looking forward to seeing the finished closet. I have a few closets of my own that need some organizing help. ;)
We are going to be painting most of the rooms in the house + ceilings! We sure could use the prize package! Thanks for the chance.
I would like to paint the exterior of our house, an ambitious DIY project I know. :)
Love the ideas! Ill be moving into a new home in a few weeks so ill be doing all sorts of cleaning, organizing, and painting throughout the whole house. I’m most excited to paint and decorate my kids rooms because they won’t be sharing anymore!
This is the perfect giveaway for me! I am a painting / redecorating queen!! :)
I have an old hutch I want to paint.
Every room pretty much needs to be repainted. But, I would love to paint my living room first!
I feel your pain on the closets! I’m currently trying to figure out how to organize all my tools and crafting items. I never realized I had so many!! Would love to win the starter pack as I also love Magic Erasers and can’t wait to try the Swiffer!
I plan on repainting the whole house, but first will probably be my bedroom and bathroom.
Magic Erasers are the bomb! I don’t know what they are made of but they really are magic!!!
I would like to paint our computer room.
I’ve got several painting projects that I’d like to get done this spring—my mother’s bedroom, which hasn’t been painted in 34 years!! And my own master bedroom. I have used the Magic Erasers and love them too! The Swiffer idea to wash the ceiling and walls–wonderful! I appreciate the chance to win.
I need to pain our master bedroom. After 6 six years of builder white paint and test paint squares I think we finally picked out the right color.
I want to paint my living room.
What great tips, thanks Stacey! We’re just finishing our secret passageway now and are at the point of getting paint onto the walls. What we did is a great alternative to the bookshelf option you were thinking of… if you wanted an update on how we managed :)
I love projects!!! And I love seeing people do tutorials on projects and give great pointers!!!
We just moved into a new house so i just finished painting the bathrooms and kitchen and now im set to tackle the laundry room. Super excited!
I have some bookshelves I want to paint white!
Love the sneak peak of the colour! My next painting project (other than staining some furniture) is board and batten in the living room….
I want to do a bright accent wall in the living room.
I love magic erasers!
Kitchen!! I have about 5 different color swatches painted there already just can’t find the right yellow!
I know just how you feel–I have “hot mess” closets, too, and I’d love to give several of them a makeover. Swiffer idea is a good one (wish I had one). Love Magic Eraser, too. Love that color choice.
Great giveaway! My living room needs to be painted desperately.
My kitchen needs a paint job…badly!
I have too many white walls in my house, I NEED to paint something :)
I am currently in what seems to be a never ending painting project. We recently bought a house and I am painting every room. The next thing to tackle is either priming the kitchen or painting my son’s bedroom.
Great tips thanks!
You are a very talented and clever homemaker. You make it look easy.
We want to paint our bedroom and the laundry room.
We (my husband) is actually in the middle of painting the exterior of our home. It’s a HUGE project.
We’ve just purchased a house and the colour choices are mostly wonderful… except the main bedroom is a weird mint green – ceilings and all walls. That will be the room that NEEDS to be painted before anything else can happen :)
I plan to paint our spare room.
The next paint project we have is our daughter’s bedroom…however today I finish up the bathroom paint job :)
Thanks Stacy!
I need to touch-up paint on the walls in the halls, living room and bathrooms! It’s going to be a weekend project soon!
Hubs and I both have severe back problems that forbid us from doing bending (most of the wall mess is from 3 dogs rubbing, so you can imagine height of the stripe). We have someone come in every other week to do some of the things we can’t. Alas, not the wall mess. But she found at Dollar Tree Mr. Clean Magic Eraser knock-offs that works as well, maybe better than, the name brand. Hard to believe I know, but for a buck????
Janet
I have a dining room that is sorely in need of a paint job!
I can’t wait to paint my daughter’s room! Thanks so much for all of the great tips! ::)
We have two the main bathroom and the kitchen
The outside of my house.
I am going to repaint the kitchen for the 3rd time since we have been in our home….12 years now.
Our kitchen!
My bedroom is next.
I have two furniture pieces that I need to paint for my oldest daughters room!
Wow! This is awesome. Hubs and I are looking at our master bath, and well….it must be re-done. If you could only see the wallpaper, you’d scream. I’m so excited to see your closet!
We are finsihing our basement so will be painting the whole thing!
My bathroom!
Man, oh man, could I use all of the above. My closets look TERRIBLE right now!
I would redo my bedroom. My hubby and I could use a place to relax, unwind and spend some us time….
My next painting project is my livingroom! I really need to re do my closets too!
I have some furniture to repaint !!
I SO want to paint my Great Room
I need it so bad!!!
My next painting project is my master bath. Although, I still need to finish the beadboard in my kitchen, baseboards & touch up in just about every room of the house!
Love your blog!!
Our pantry and then the living room, half bath, upstairs hallway … this list is getting too long!
Oh, I LOVE Mr. Clean Erasers too. I have an entire shelf so I never run out! I think I’m obsessed with them…thanks for sharing!
My next painting project, and I just bought a few different cans of paint, is to do touch-up on our walls. Also, I am painting a desk right now, and my armoire. And I’m building a farmhouse bed and painting it, too. I’m kind of a big mess, huh?
Earlier today I was telling my husband I want to paint the basement. The color is getting old on both of us (it was that color when we moved in a year and a half ago).
I would love to paint my bedroom.
Awesome tips would never have thought to use a swiffer to clean walls & ceiling before painting.
We can’t wait to paint the exterior of our house and say buh-hye to the teal and mauve trim!
Ugh, we have to repaint our entire place to get it ready to sell. NOT looking forward to it!
I love magic erasers! With 3 kids, there’s always something to clean up :)
I need to touch up the walls in my dining room!
I really want to redo (do) my hallway and finally get the family gallery wall hung. though wheels are turning for some closets :)
Our next painting project is our water shed next to our house. Or maybe the laundry room.
I’m painting every weekend in Spring. Swiffer is a great idea for walls and ceilings. Thanks for the giveaway. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
Now I’m gonna have to paint the stairwell.
my laundry room is the only space in the house that we haven’t painted since we bought our house 3 years ago. I think it’s time!
I need to paint my bedroom.
I want to paint the living room. The current color was picked by my boyfriend a long time ago. It is way too bright of a color.
I need to repaint my office – it used to be my daughter’s bedroom so it’s turquoise with lime green and purple polka dots which was cute for her but not so much for me!
I really want to paint my kitchen cabinets
My next project is painting my master bedroom and master bath. I love your idea about using the Swifter to wash down the walls! I would have never thought to do it this way and would have done it the way you used to do it with the bucket of water and wet rag. This is such a great tip. Plus, I have never used Magic Eraser for scuff marks on walls. I have scuff marks on the risers of my stairs and will use it on them and then attack the walls in the master bedroom walk -in closet.
As with any paint job, the prep is more work than the actual painting so these two tips are extremely helpful. Before I apply Behr’s Nurture color in the bedroom and Martha Stewart’s Wellington Gray in the bathroom (with Nurture on the ceiling), I will utilize your tips. Thank you so much for this!
I just found your blog via Pinterest. I’ve enjoyed looking at all of the projects you shared.
I LOVE MAGOC ERASERS! The swiffers are great also! Presently I am trying to figure out how to make my pantry easier to use!
I built some small shelves to put the canned goods in- but it is just NOT working. And it needs a good painting. There is a lot of wasted space in there. Thanks for the opportunity to win some helpers for my pantry!
I want to paint the 3 bedrooms in my house.
I want and need to tackle my livingroom, its in need of a makeover!!!
I’m starting my kitchen and hallway tomorrow. I have to wait until my husband travels for work until I tackle projects like this because I make a huge mess and don’t clean anything up until I am completely finished. Wish me luck!
Just tackled the linen closet. Need to work on organizing the chaos in our basement!
Would love to organize & paint my bathroom! Last room to go in our little bungalow!
Oh we want to paint little Carters room!
Part of the basement will be the next painting project.
My Kitchen and Living Room need some repainting
Oh man! Our whole house needs repainting. I think we are starting with either our kitchen or master bedroom.
The whole house!
My son’s room needs to be updated!
demureprincess7(at)gmail(dot)com

my hallway
What a great tip! My next painting job will be my backporch. or my powder room. I want to paint each of them!
Hello! I just stumbled upon your blog, and I love it! The next paint project I would like to tackle is my laundry room, unfortunately, it’s not just a matter of slapping paint on the walls. A lot of work needs to be done to the walls before they can be painted. It’s so gloomy and dingy in there right now though. So it’s next on my list!
I want to repaint my entryway!
I would love to paint the kids’rooms since they kinda blah ight now.
